Easy to find at the back of the large Kyoto station. You have to pay a small amount to get into the park of the temple and to get close to it but it is worth it.

We did not pay to go in, but we’re still able to admire the beautiful gardens, see the pagoda from a distance and enter one of the temples.

Toji Temple is worth the visit. Considering the proximity to Kyoto station, one could hardly ask for more – in terms of getting to the venue. It is a ‘spacious’ temple, with a different ambience as compared to other temples. The structure of the temple...More

After seeing so many beautiful temples, I found this one to be a bit underwhelming. I would probably prioritize other sites.

We’ve been twice so far and will likely go again before our trip is finished. The grounds are beautiful and the museum featured an artist/art style I’ve never heard of before. Once a month there is a market selling a variety of goods and snacks.

I walked in the beautiful grounds of this temple. There was a fair and it was great to watch Japanese toddlers and their mums singing and playing in the sun. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Kyoto. Easily accessible by bus.

Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi
Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist
attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens,
temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for
strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine
itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the
mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers,
picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the
