Teramachi was a very pleasant surprise. Its a huge covered market with shops on either side. I found a lot of typical Japanese gifting stuff to take back- like combs, hair accessories, fans and other knick knacks which were much cheaper than the curio shops...More

This is an excellent shopping arcade in central Kyoto. If you're looking for local produce, gifts, somewhere to grab lunch/dinner or just a coffee it's the most convenient place to go. There's plenty of local fashion on sale as well. There's also a cinema and...More

Branching of the exquisite Shijo Street are many covered pedestrian arcades. Once a street, they are now converted to shopping streets, but the streets now have tiled floors, as if you were in a mall, but instead it is a long street. Teramachi-dori has many...More

We accidentally stumbled onto this street when we tried to walk from Gion to our hotel. It is an interesting, roofed, open-air street with stores and restaurants at both ends. We ended up buying takoyaki & taiyaki, both of which were decent. A good place...More

It's a walk from the Shijo-Karasuma Station, but this was a interesting place to visit. You can either walk along ground level to do extra shopping while you head towards Teramachi, or cut through the crowds and stop lights by taking the underground passage. There...More

A waste of time to visit this street as they sell all the things you expect to see in Japan in just about every major shopping area. We find the parallel street of Shinkyogoku far more interesting and have lots more to offer, especially for...More

Shinkyogoku Shopping District
Those who delight in shopping and cuisine will find
themselves at home in Shinkyogoku. Lauded and visited
by locals for its Nishiki Market, where baskets of
fragrant spices, dried fish, and just-fried foods are
piled high along the snaking streets of its enclosed
outdoor shopping spaces, Shinkyogoku is not only a hub
for fresh fare, but also for fast fashion fixes.

Hi, we were perusing the many shops and I did see, but cannot offhand say where exactly it was now. The next door road mall also has a variety of clothing stores.
