Address
Neighbourhood: Shinkyogoku Shopping District
Those who delight in shopping and cuisine will find themselves at home in Shinkyogoku. Lauded and visited by locals for its Nishiki Market, where baskets of fragrant spices, dried fish, and just-fried foods are piled high along the snaking streets of its enclosed outdoor shopping spaces, Shinkyogoku is not only a hub for fresh fare, but also for fast fashion fixes. Trends-in-the-making can be spotted in the tall windows of several one-of-a-kind stores featuring local labels and modish boutiques. Arcades, outdoor concert spaces, mega department stores, and small, enchanting cafes have sprung up to accommodate the increasing traffic. Whether looking for souvenirs and kitsch on Shinkyogoku Street, or scoping out the massive food court and restaurant floor at Takashimaya Department store, there's something for every wallet or purse, and a buyer for every item.

Informative fun and interactive all in ine
The samurai history though abridged was fun interactive and Hiro made it easy to learn. The sword cutting is definitley different from what i was expecting yet more. You get to cut with 200yr sword!! Good activity in kyoto and well worth the price

    Very fun. Great for families!
So much fun! We had a wonderful guide and learned a lot about Samurai history and the social structure in Japan during that time. Our guide was informative and funny. Some of us were very competent on the Ninja star competition and dressing up at the end was a great memory. We visited one hot afternoon and it was great to do something in air conditioning and out of the sun.

Amazing Yama Sensei who taught us the fundamentals of the way of samurai and the usage of a katana. He was patient with all the participants and actively training us. After the samurai experience, we got to take some photos at the dojo also which was really cool. This lasted for about 45 minutes or so, and you can take videos at your expense, but be respectful of others around as time is ticking.

After the samurai experience came the samurai museum tour where there were 3 sections. The history of Japan in terms of the hierarchical system, the showcasing of the samurai armours along with the historical katanas and the progression of military weapons in time, and introduction to some historical figures in time. (Around 20 minutes)

Lastly, there was a ninja star shooting experience where you get to throw mimicked ninja star. (Around 15 minutes)

After you are done with all of this, you get to dress in made-up samurai outfits and can take some cool phoots to keep as memorabilia. :)

It is a private venture. Don’t know if you can call it a museum. They have some costumes and swords of samurai’s / don’t know if they are real. The explanation is in good English but takes only about 30 min! Then you have a shurikan competition. It was cute but not worth the money. You are in and out in 45 min.

I was humiliated by the instructor in front of everyone. For a “family-friendly” tour it should not be expected that you pick up every instruction on the first go especially when there are language barriers. It really ruined my experience. The museum part was excellent.

Family went out of our way for this activity and found it very disappointing.....it was not an hour but barely 35 minutes. Guide??? We never saw one. No sword demo and the complete ninja costume, was only a jacket and head band. Darting blowing portion was using shooters from a basket that was used over and over by God knows who...no attempt to clean them between groups. Cannot recommend this for anyone.

I personally believe that it's doesn't worth your time and money. Plus a lot of people in a tiny space. I don't understand why people have given positive feedback on this museum and experience.

This attraction is a joke, the young enterteiner/ instructor is supposed to teach how to use a sword but does not know and does not teach anything. Do not waste your money. Can be nice for kids under 10 but this is it.
