With Eiden train and bus, Kibune is easily accessible from downtown Kyoto. But the air in Kibune is refreshing. During Tanabata festival, there is a lightning. So, I strongly recommend you to visit in this period.

We decided to take a step further to Kyoto outskirts instead of plotting the visit plan to temples inside Kyoto. To get to Kifune, patience is needed. It is not so accessible compared to most of the temples around Kyoto, and extra fares are paid...More

A beautiful and peaceful site. You get the history and a real taste of the spiritual life that built the shrine.

I trekked to Kifune shrine twice this January, both times it was snowing! After riding the subway from Kyoto station and a bus to Eizan train station, the journey transformed from modern travel to a fairytale winter land. The riverside walk presented countless photo opportunities...More

This is a beautifully traditional shrine hidden up in among the mountain! Tips: wear a comfy pair of shoe when you are there!

There is an activity literally called "red leave and lantern festival" (もみじ灯篭) at night in Kifune shrine. It is usually held in November and the start and end date can vary each year. We visited it at 15 Nov 2015 night, that was such a...More
