Lots of eating places and coffee shops facing the bridge. WE made this our meeting place. Lots to see and observe while waiting for each other. Spectacular photos to be taken. And also good approach to the bamboo forest -- far from the crowds.

We visited Arashiyama in late October. It is not the best month to come as the Autumn fallen foliage has not arrived. A better month would be to come in early or middle of November. It is only when the whole mountain of Arashiyama is...More

Just crossed this bridge briefly on our short stop of Arashiyama. I'm pretty sure we could have discovered more beauty in it if we could have stayed more and explored a little bit.

It's so crowded on the bridge, and it's better to take photo from far away, so you can see the whole bridge. The bridge and the river looks beautiful. There's a small coffee shop near it, you can always find long queue for a cup...More

Having walked across the Pont Alexander III bridge in Paris, Charles Bridge in Prague, The Chain Bridge in Budapest, Tower Bridge in London and The Dom Luis Bridge in Porto, this bridge is average.

I just love sitting here and just look at the water. The scenery is so beautiful, the mountains, birds, fish, kimono, I just could sit there all day.

Moon-Crossing Bridge as it was known by Emperor Kameyama when he used to go boating under a full moon on the river 8 centuries ago. He used to say that it looked as if the moon was crossing the bridge. Today's bridge was constructed in...More

This is a destination for many tourists it seems. The bridge itself is not really very remarkable although the view of the river is attractive. We walked from the JR Saga-Arashiyama station, taking detours at the Nonomiya shrine and Tenryuji temple. After this place, we...More

Western Kyoto is home to some of the city's best
eccentricities. Kyoto's Saga-Toriimoto Preserved

houses and eateries. Pleasure boats drift down the
riverbank, under wooden bridges that beckon nature
lovers to hiking trails and botanical walks. The
