One of my most favourite sights in Kyoto. It has something for everyone: history, interesting architecture, beautiful walk and a good view of the city. Especially beautiful during cherry blossom season. Keep in mind that it gets swamped with tourists so it is best to visit very early in the day so you could stroll at your leisure.

UNESCO World Heritage site founded in 8th century. Many small shrines are situated in temple complex. You can overlook a city of Kyoto from a large veranda, supported by tall pillars. You can catch the water and make the wish at Otowa waterfall.

Revisit the third times, for the autumn leaves. There are ponds on both side of the temple where great pictures were taken. Also visited at night where lights are on, and presented different view on the leaves. Note: No need to go inside the temple.

It is a very nice temple but be prepared with some walking to do, on upslopes. The streets leading to the temple were lined with shops selling souvenirs and kyoto special sweets and foodstuff. There was an entrance fee of ¥400 per person, the temple was set in a very serene compound and the architectural structures of the temple were... More

Absolutely stunning, both the temple, the construction, and the view of Kyoto from the stage. Definitely a must visit for any visitor to Japan.

Although the Kiyomizu temple is going to maintain for a while. We still cease the chane to visit there this January. The main temple is not yet to be covered. So we can see the beautiful scene from the outside route. Althouth it's a cold weather day, but there are also croweded people to visit here. Everyone seems like to... More

This is a must see! There are so many impressive structures and statutes and scenery - it's sensory overload in the best possible way. We were fortunate to be there on a sunny day in February and the orange is absolutely brilliant under the sun. Fun fact - not a single nail was used in construction - incredible! Wear comfortable...
