They had 'Swords of Kyoto' exhibition while I was there. The Main Exhibition Hall, a red brick building built in 1897, is designated as Important Cultural Properties. It is also the conservation and research center for National Treasures and other cultural properties in Kyoto area.

Kyoto National Museum’s new gallery displays an amazing collection in a carefully designed building. Finishings are elegant and lighting design is theatrical.
