The park is adjacent to the Yakasa Shrine. By the time we reached the park around 6pm, it was full of picnickers. The park's star attraction is a weeping cherry tree which becomes lit up at night. It was beautiful with the illumination.

I have been in Maruyama park three times and all of them the park is a beautiful spot but this time with the sakura blossom and all the food sellers. A big festival all around.

We were there at the sunset and stayed for 2 hours the lights around with the sakura trees was amazing it is new experience. The tourist information office women advised us to pass through during evening and was perfects the picnic area with street style foods spreading there to try some snack, desserts or food.

I was a bit surprised by this park as the gardens are not as beautiful or maintained as what we had seen in Japan. The main entrance is a shrine with hawkers selling takoyaki and fruits. Then the pathway leads to various other shrines(8-9 I think). This park is definitely not stroller friendly and there are no baby changing facilities.... More

Maruyama Park is without question my favourite park in the world! I've been here quite a few times over the last few years, and it's just such an amazing place! In off peak season it's really peaceful and relaxing, sometimes there is a person playing music from a flute. There is an iconic sakura tree in the middle of the... More

Brought sandwiches and beverages. Sat under fuji trellis and enjoyed the waning Sakura with hundreds of others.

If you love going to parks. You will love this place. Its very pretty at night. Best to go there before the sunset and reserve a table under the trees. Nice way to end the day with beer and some grilled meat.

Really special place to sit amongst the blossoming cherry trees with excellent street food and hot sake. Everyone was so chilled out and it was easy to strike up a conversation with anyone and have a laugh.

A real nice park for walking around plus there is a beautiful temple to the west of the park near the park gate (I don't know what it is called).
