Great view from the mountain top and so surprising to see monkeys everywhere on top of the mountain. You can feed the monkeys from inside the hut and is very safe.

Tired of temples and shrines? This is a nice change from that and also a great getaway from the main areas of Kyoto. Accessible by bus or surface rail, it helps to Google it before so you don't waste time catching the wrong bus. When...More

This was a bit of a walk up the mountain but it was so worth it. Great views of the City of Kyoto. It was a bit startling to get to the top of the mountain and just before entering there were huge signs with...More

Bit of a walk up but o overly strenuous. We carried our toddler up. (Pushchair would have been way to hard, they have space to leave these at bottom). Monkeys are very cheeky and wee saw a baby which was very cute.

I definitely recommend coming here! We went the day after we went to Fushimi Inari Shrine, so our legs definitely got a good workout between these two days, but the climb up the mountain is so worth it! The macaque monkeys run free and- as...More

We decided to try out the monkey park based on other's recommendations and it was worth the trip over. The price is affordable just for the great views of Kyoto from the top. The monkeys were great with some amazing photo opportunities. We didn't feed...More

The climb to the top of the mountain is so worth it. Not only is it a spectacular view of Kyoto, but monkeys are everywhere in their own natural environment. We loved the interaction of feeding them. They especially loved the bananas and apples (you...More

Was so cool to see the monkeys and feed them! A bit of a hike to get up, wear comfortable clothes. Great view of the city too!

We had to tear ourselves away because there is so much to see and do in Kyoto. The hike is steep but worth it if you love interacting with animal wildlife!!!

Western Kyoto is home to some of the city's best
eccentricities. Kyoto's Saga-Toriimoto Preserved
Street takes visitors back in time to the Meiji
Period, where old homes have been transformed into tea
houses and eateries. Pleasure boats drift down the
riverbank, under wooden bridges that beckon nature
lovers to hiking trails and botanical walks. The

As others have mentioned, I would not recommend it... It's bulky and hard to walk in the traditional shoes. It's a long enough walk on a steep enough hill. Maybe do the park first thing in the morning, then go get the Kimono.

There were a few bikes parked by the entrance. I don't know how secure they were, but the owners were willing to leave them there.

Does anyone know whether it is possible to take bags into the park? We will be travelling with hand luggage. Thanks!

I agree with the others, it's hard enough walking up without bags, luggage would be a nightmare.
