The oldest night club in Japan since 1990, Metro is becoming the source of cultural trends with a strong focus on quality of music, art, etc. Many local artists started out at Metro and advanced overseas like Mondo Grosso, FPM, to name a few. In addition we have been inviting a variety of artists from across the globe monthly like, Aphex Twin, Jeff Mills, Derrick May, Daft Pank, Arto Lindsay, James Blake, Africa Bambaataa, etc, any more. In the early evenings Metro sometimes host a culture school “Metro College” that picks up a variety of themes such as; minimal arts, movies, and talk shows . We also help to showcase Kyoto's culture through partnership with Kyoto City on events like the International Art Festival. Another AWESOME fact, we were ranked 14th on the list of “the weirdest places."

I highly recommend club metro for the cool underground vibes, the interesting people, and the value. Unlike most clubs, metro situated itself in a subway station in Kyoto. This gives the club an exclusive and cool feel. Additionally, drinks and food don't break the bank--drinks...More

I was staying for three months in Kyoto and went to Metro on several occasions. They have a super varied lineup, excellent sound and good vibes all over. It is a miniature version of a club in Tel Aviv minus the drugs.

Very nice spot to go at night far a drink and clubbing in a quiet city like Kyoto. If you speak some Japanese it will help to hang around. It's popular among university students but not only. Check the monthly schedule as depending on the...More

In the middle of Kyoto we found this very exciting place. There was good music, good drinks (one it's free if you're a foreign person!) If you're near to Gion, I suggest you to go there

A dingy small underground bar, has a very rough feel to it but the people are friendly and give any night that they have drag queen a miss as I assume that's the gay night unless you're into that but it's pretty mellow/straight for a...More

I know it is not in central Kyoto but it is one of the best if you want to enjoy music and atmosphere. Most of Japanese clubs are for young teenager but Metro is not! Good selection of music and good event, too. Please check...More

Expensive, 2000 yen entry, bad music, pricey drinks, advertise 10pm drag night, show not til 1am, not even 10 customers, waste of time

Great music, nice people. I've been here twice and both times have been phenomenal. I would recommend it to anyone. Best club in Kyoto.

Great music, great People, great atmosphere. What else ? Went into this club just looking for a place to dance. We got not a lot of people but the best music and the friendliest djs ever. Highly recommended.

City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its
blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered
shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street
bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to
peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home
goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center
is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and
clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of
