I was on a 6 day visit to Osaka and decided to stay near Dotonbori. Dotonbori is definitely tourist friendly (in Japan a lot of places are rather closed off to foreigners / non-Japanese speakers). I'm from Toronto and let's just say ANY restaurants you...More

I was aware of the osakan maxim "Kuidaore" (eat yourself into ruin) and witnessed it when I got to Dotonbori. Wow !!! This place is just amazing and you can easily stroll for hours just savouring the best of Japanese street food, especially osakan Okonomiyaki,...More

Dotonburi felt a little overdone, in my opinion. Lots of shops and other businesses jammed in all over the place, lots of colour and energy, but very little depth or character. It felt a little contrived, or hyped up. How many takoyaki does a person...More

All the restaurants and shopping are here. Spend at least 4 hours, and additional 4-6 hours if you enjoy buying Japanese goods.

Plenty of shops to explore, so be prepared to spend a lot of time in here. Some great shops worth a look, but certain types of shops became a little repetitive. There were some bargains to be had, but don't expect to find things heavily...More

Dontonbori to me is a street food adventure. All kinds of street food all lined up to choose from. My family loves the Tako-yaki. A must try. It is a flour based dough with an octopus (we call it squid in my country) in the...More

Although packed with tourist. It is a must when you are in Osaka to come to Dontonbori and take a photo in front of the glico running man sign. The covered walkways are so good to keep away the elements.

Walking is good option because Dotonbori is in the middle of Namba subway station 5 mins walk) and Nippombashi subway station(7 mins walk). You may check Google map or get a map from the hotel.
