Great cooking class with a superb instructor. Sara taught a complex and demanding recipe (Hainanese chicken rice) with patience and skill, and the final dish turned out exactly as it should. Note that I am a novice cook with an underlying fear of knives and open flames 😊 The course was held in her mother’s home kitchen, which was spacious and well equipped with everything you need. We began with a tour of her back garden, where we harvested the herbs for the recipe. Sara and her mum prepared a wonderful breakfast before starting the course, including “Ten Thousand Fragrance” tea (also from the garden). What I really liked about this cooking class was the precision: all of the recipes I got from Sara were exact, with the amounts measured out in grams or liters. This has made it possible for me to re-create this unique recipe in my own kitchen.

Thoroughly enjoyable experience learning Malay hawker cooking and its herbs and spices by passionate Sara. Have always wanted to learn do my go chicken satay properly as well as showing off pulling Malay tea Teh Terik, but turned out most difficult frying Keow Teo rice noodles but manage doing so in only two and a a minutes under the heat of a hot wok. Delish and fun that worth our sweats.

This was SO MUCH FUN! II found the virtual cooking class by Sara to be one of the best ways to learn Malaysian cooking from home - WAY BETTER than watching YouTube. Having Sara guide me through each step and explain all the details was so valuable and her expertise shines through as soon as you connect with her. She knows her stuff!
For my first class (I will be doing many more, Malaysian food is some of the best in the world and Sara is incredible!) , I requested Nasi Lemak, and WOW, I was so surprised by how delicious it turned out for my first time! As a beginner cook, I was not expecting that I could actually make something that delicious! And that's all because of how Sara guides you through each step and tells you exactly when to do what at the right time and explains to you why! She has excellent skills and learning from her can help you improve much faster than trying to learn from online recipes or YouTube, it's definitely a worthwhile experience.
And even though the class was online, I think it was just as good as in person, because Sara went above and beyond by helping me before and during the class with the requirements. It was an amazing experience, especially during these times! I will be doing more classes!

So I had a limited amount of time in Kuala Lumpur and wanted to learn a few Malaysian recipes in my time here, as I'm a huge foodie.
I stumbled across the class and was responded to very promptly by Sara.
Once I had arrived, I was greeted warmly by Sara, as we waited for another lady (also British and very lovely) to arrive. I instantly felt very welcomed in Sara's lovely home.
The morning started with a delicious light breakfast and some blue tea, made from the flowers in Sara's Garden. I'm not a huge tea drinker but it was delicious! Next, we had a garden tour and Sara showed us each of the ingredients we would be using in our dishes and taught us a lot about the different vegetable varieties and more that she grows. It was very interesting - I particularly found it great to see how Sara's focus was on more of an organic food angle.
The cooking class itself was so much fun. Sara had timed it perfectly and it was very hands on and interactive. Sara provided lots of cooking tips and information during it and the cooking space was very clean and well stocked. Sara is a natural teacher, as she is patient, encouraging and knowledgeable.
I would 100% recommend this class, as it was authentic, fun and also took place in such a warm and welcoming environment. Thank you so much, Sara!

With Sara we had excellent Malaysian cooking lessons.
She informs you upfront with some route information, very convenient.
I was lucky to be in a very friendly and polite Japanese company.
Sara showed us everything,
- the herbs and seeds in her own garden
- how to make your own spice, curry, marinade and sambal
- and of course the dishes itself,
it was very well prepared with a small recipe book,
together with all the ingredients.
We made the following dishes:
Malaysian Four-angled bean salad
Nasi Lemak
Sambal
Malaysian Spiced fried chicken
pearl Sago Pudding
Malaysian pulled tea
It tasted really excellent, better than in my 5-star hotel!
Afterward Sara send us some tips, pictures, and additional recipes.
It is a really “must do” if you love cooking.
A big thank you for Sara.

Sara was a very warm and engaging cooking instructor and she made the class very enjoyable. I elected to cook a range of hawker foods and I ended up making 5 authentic dishes (including pulled tea), that tasted just like they would from a hawker stand. I was very impressed with all of the skills and kitchen hacks I picked up during the class. Thanks Sara.

Hi! I was so excited to hear that you sang for Phantom of the Opera! I love music but have no talent in it. Glad to have you over to cook together. I hope to see you perform one day!

We wanted to learn about Malaysian cuisine and found Sara’s class and it was without a doubt the best experience ever! First we went to a local market to buy fresh ingredients for our class. We went back to her cooking studio and ate a traditional Malaysian breakfast with fresh herbal tea from her garden. We cooked each dish separately so it was easy for us to ask questions. We made 4 dishes, including Malaysian Fried Chicken, Hokkien Mee, Char Koay Teow. Every dish was super delicious, All the dishes were better than the restaurant dishes we had in KL.
Sara is full of knowledge, professional, very friendly, organized and great to be around. I would highly recommend this class.

A small group of us wanted to learn a bit about Malay culture and cuisine and we were definitey treated to both. Sara was our mentor and guide which we were so grateful for.
First off she was very accommodating as we requested no meat menu and also wanted to be picked up at our hotel. She was able to switch a dish from chicken to fish; she and her sister also picked us up and they immediately made us feel very comfortable. We had a great conversation to their charming home where we were treated to some tasty Hawker Malay foods.
We then went outside and toured her lovely garden where we were taught of many ingredients the Malays use in their cooking. We then went inside and were given a cookbook with instructions on the dishes we were going to cook. We loved the teamwork and intimate hands on teachings/service we had.
All of the dishes we prepared came out perfectly. I have to say though personally, the star dish was the Nasi Lemak with sambal. So tasty and still simple. Definitely will cook this at home.
Thank you so much Sara for your professionalism, warmth and guidance throughout this tour. Please send our thanks to your family as well; we really appreciated your hospitality. Aloha, Hawaii friends!

I have been to at least two dozen cooking classes across the globe and I rate Sara’s school amongst the best. The menus are carefully prepared and the written instructions are faultless. The pace is just right. No pressure. No waiting around. To walk through her garden was more fun and enlightening than the usual market visit. I highly recommend the Chinatown Menu. Thank you Sara. I will definitely return next time I am in KL.

A couple of doting moms and teens spent a morning learning how to cook popular Malaysian fare, including sourcing and a garden herb tour.
Sara is thorough and patient, the kitchen was perfectly set up for our group of 5, and the family garden is beautiful.
It was a fun experience, and highly worthwhile if you love food and want to learn more about the local culture.
