About
This former red-light area is now one of Kuala Lumpur’s top culinary destinations. The sidewalks are lined with seafood eateries, hawker stalls, and coffee shops serving some of Malaysia’s best hawker fare. You’ll find delicious street food like satay, BBQ chicken wings, stir-fried noodles, and also desserts. Wash it all down with some ice-cold beer or the locals’ favorite: sugarcane juice. This buzzing street draws budget travelers for its affordable prices and shutterbugs for its nostalgic vibes.
Join a food tour of Kuala Lumpur, which will bring you to all the best food spots in Jalan Alor and the city.

While in Kuala Lumpur, you cannot skip Jalan Alor. This street is situated in the Bukit Bintang area and is THE foodstreet by far. Nothing much to do during daytime. But after 5 pm, it all comes to life. Streetlife but then aimed at food. There is an abundance of restaurants and Hawker stalls. They cater for everyones needs. The proces are not over the top, although you shouldn’t expect to eat very cheap either. Give it a go. You will not be disappointed.

I think it's the best famous food street in Asia. Close to Lot 10. The street is crowded with more than 200 food joints offering asian cuisine from Japan to India. Different fruits are also available

I watched an episode of No Reservations with the late Anthony Bourdain before I left home for Kuala Lumpur. He recommended the garlic crab.
Much to my delight,Jalan Alor was a short 15-minute walk from my hotel. I was in search of a good meal after my 20-hour flight from Los Angeles. I walked around to see the many food stalls. I finally found a restaurant for crab. It didn't disappoint. I ordered the Black Pepper sauce. It was delicious.

Really great food market on the street at night. Would recommend going for the atmosphere if nothing else. Not many vegetarian options available (as is expected) but more than most and if you ask some restaurants will do a meat-free version of some dishes on the menu.

Amazing display of street food, catering mainly to tourist and very busy at night. Ate there a couple of times but found several street restaurants nearby that we preferred and used daily.

Even if you aren't particularly hungry, you will be once you smell all the great food on the grills and see the beautiful fruit offered for sale. This is a food lovers paradise! Go after 5 pm, or if you happen to be in that area in the morning, I have also found a couple of great street vendors selling breakfast. Definitely try the nasi lemak -- day or night.

What would be the best thing or place to eat here if I have a very severe nut allergy?

Best to stick to seafood. You can also ask at restaurants and emphasise your allergy. Stay away from satay especially the sauce which is peanut based. Sometimes the meat marinade could also be contaminated with peanut.

Do you recommend taking a taxi/Grab during peak hours (9pm-12am)? I’m more concerned about how easy or difficult it is to get a taxi/Grab leaving from this place.

I would suggest to take the monorail at Imbi, the traffic is hectic that time of night and a 5 minute trip can take up to 40 min. Taxi's would take a long time.

Jalan Alor is a street full of little restaurants with wide variety of food selection. I am pretty sure you get a vegetarian dish somewhere. But I don't think there is one particular restaurant that is 100% vegetarian. Hope you enjoy your stay there. Good luck!
Is the place convenient for parking? As we will be driving there. Any recommended location/spot for parking?
