About
Food has always been part of our communities. Having multiple ethnicities where you live gives you great chance to be a part of so many celebrations. And with all these celebrations there is always a meal. So you see, us Malaysians take our food very seriously. Food Tour Malaysia Food in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur is unique. Some dishes here you will not be able to find in other parts of the country, and if you do, chances are that they probably could trace their roots to these 2 cities. Penang being the only other exception. The daily ritual of eating communally is one of the most endearing of Malaysian experiences. It is warm, and it's at the dinner table where you get to really understand and get the authentic 'feel', the heartbeat of the Malaysian community.

This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Malaysia!
Our guides Charles and Carlson first took us to the local night market where we could taste several freshly made local snacks. We tasted delicious products we never would have chosen ourselves. And even our teenagers loved it!
Our second stop was in Little India where we walked through the shopping street (no pressure to buy something) and tasted a few Indian dishes and drinks.
Afterwards we visited Chinatown and practised our chopstick-skills.
Carlson and Charles made it a wonderful evening with lots of fun, great pictures and even a TikTok dance with the kids.
Great memories!! Thank you, guys!

This tour was a highlight for us! Karlson was a great guide who expertly ordered dishes in 3 different locations so we could get a real taste of Malay, Indian and Chinese cuisine. There was more than enough food, and it was all delicious! The night was such a great way to get familiar with different areas of Kuala Lumpur, which was a nice bonus. We also stopped to try some sweets along the way which were also great. Would highly recommend!

We were a group of 8 with 4 adults and 4 teenagers and had a great night out with Karlson. One member of our group had a number of allergies and Karlson was extremely careful and checked and planned all the locations prior to the tour commencing. We tried a number of different foods that we wouldn't have tried if we were travelling without a guide and were extremely full by the end of the tour. Karlson even took us for a spot of sightseeing. We would definitely recommend this tour company and if you get Karlson as your guide you will have a fantastic night out.

Karlson was an amazing host and we tasted some of the tastiest Hokkien noodles and Indian rotis. We loved the hospitality, great tour guide skills and getting the local experience of taking a peak into Malay foods.

Our time during the tour was the most memorable part of our trip to Malaysia! We truely did experience George Town like a local, and sampled so many delicious dishes that we would not have had the opportunity to try without our knowledgeable guide, Kevin. The food was incredible and varied. We also enjoyed sight seeing - a great way to spend a fun filled evening!

Nice guy but clueless and disorganized. Don’t waste your time Arrived 15 minutes late. Meeting point 30 minutes outside KL at deserted bus station. Indian stop not Brickfield as stated (centrally located and 5 minute drive from Petaling St) but near bus station. 30 minute drive back to Petaling st. Saw nothing of Brickfield Parks 3 blocks away. Walk down dark dirty alley to crowded copycat market single file to mediocre restaurant so no commentary from Carlson. Same route back to van so saw nothing different. Drive to Kampang Baru. Too dark to see the original wooden houses Walking on dark street past garbage and closed stalls since so late. Wanted us to walk back to van “ too much traffic”. Deserted street. We asked to bring van back which he did. Could have been so much more interesting tour. And an hour shorter due to wasted time driving time and repetitive walking on same route
We have higher hopes for Singapore tour

We apologise that you had a bad experience on the tour. We appreciate your feedback on this matter and have checked with the guide (Karlson) on the events throughout the tour. We would like to explain that the guide responded to our message sent during the start of the tour on his ETA and had informed that he will be 3-4 minutes late due to an unforeseen Police Roadblock set up towards the pick up point. We have checked on this and confirmed the situation and timing. May we add that the group boarded the Van at 7.12pm after the briefing on the tour (extended location to Chinatown and Kampung Baru to explore the city even more) and also dietary restrictions as well as curfews to which the entire group agreed on a slightly longer tour. Karlson had planned the extended route out of the regular ones specifically for the group to enjoy a (Off The Eaten Track) experience and ensure that some sightseeing was included as part of the Food Tour despite the hour of the night. We strive to provide our guests with the best local experience which may include travelling to areas that locals go to and we understand that you were uncomfortable with the route taken, we apologise for this however Kuala Lumpur city especially (preserved) heritage areas has its up's and down's and is not always well kept due to the living conditions of the people there. As this was a larger group and by 3rd Party Van services we have taken note on the repetitive walk to and forth the van at each stop and will advise the van company to allow more flexibility when it comes to high traffic locations and pick up/drop off locations at each food stop. We hope that you enjoy the rest of your holidays and would love to host you in the near future to redeem the food tour and Kuala Lumpur! Regards, Food Tour Malaysia

We had such a good time eating our way through Kuala Lumpur. Karlson was an excellent guide and took us to places outside of the city that we wouldn’t have known about. We tried Malay, Indian and Chinese dishes and they were all excellent. He also added on a few extra things when he found out that we liked Chinese buns and wanted to try durian. I’m so happy that we were able to eat like locals!

The guide Anna was excellent. Very knowledgeable on the food and local history and very perceptive of individual requirements. A great introduction to KL and its Malay, Chinese and Indian cuisine. You will visit places that you would otherwise never get to as a short stay visitor to KL and experience a bit of the ‘real’ local scene

We recommend doing the tour "Off the Eaten Track" a hundred percent. The food spots were really local, the food absolutely amazing. If you are a bigger group you can even enjoy more food, which is great. We've been to areas where we normally wouldn't go alone and Karlson gave us so much information about the ingredients of the food, how it is prepared and the regional differences that exist. We finished the tour with a filled up tummy and a lot of extrardinary taste experiences.

We had a great time with our “ new “ best friend Karlson. We started with Indian food, eating dishes we would never have tried , and they were just so yummy. Although we were soon very full we skipped the Chinese meal and just wandered around China town eating desserts. Karlson was happy to make any changes we wanted and was so knowledgeable. We then went on to the Malaysian meal, again another surprise of great food, which we really enjoyed. What a great night, and we got on so well laughing and joking from the moment we met till sadly the time we finnished, this was our first ever food tour, and we were so happy we took it, and also we really did feel like we made a new friend along the way.
