Barbara from MM Adventure Travel and Discovery was a great communicator. She answered all of our many questions and guided us to maximize our one day in Kuala Lumpur. Guna our driver/ guide collected us from the airport, drove everywhere and then collected us again early the next day for the airport. He was a great and very reliable driver and we were able to see everything we'd requested. Guna knew the best places to take photos at the Petronas towers. We really enjoyed the Batu Caves. For us the fireflies were a huge highlight. Traveling by quiet boat in the dark and seeing thousands of fireflies was a magical experience which we did not want to end! Excellent tour company - we would highly recommend them.

We had a quick stay in KL and particularly wanted to go and see the BOH tea plantations in the Highlands. Michael took us on a great private tour - he was very flexible and let us set the pace; we chose to stop at the rubber trees, palm oil, basket making, strawberries and market as well as having 1.5 hours at the tea. BOH tea is very tasty and we would definitely suggest a trip to the "palas" for a cuppa and a cake!
The tour included breakfast, lunch and an ice-cream plus bottled water. The price is on the high side, but it is a personalised tour and lasted from 8am - 8pm, so a long day for the guide.
We would recommend this company.

What a great tour, totally a must see! The ride in the typical van was okay, but comfortable. Lots of fun meeting the Silver Leaf Monkeys, giving them some bananas and making pictures with them. Great location to see the Malacca Strait from the hill there just below a lighthouse. Dinner at the Selangor River was simple, but a lot and very tasty. The main attraction, the Fireflies, was just marvelous! Like thousands of blinking LEDs in trees. We recommend this tour!

It's a shame that I could not experience the many positive reviews that I read on this tour operator - it sounds like they're knowledgeable and lead great tours. Unfortunately my brief experience with them wasn't so positive. I was scheduled to be in KL for a day and my wife wanted to see the fireflies, so I was ready to sign up for the firefly tour. However, the weather forecast called for rain on the evening we wanted to tour, so naturally I wondered what would happen to the firefly rides and whether it was safe to continue - after all, we had to take a ride down the river to see them. So I called, and all I got for the next few minutes was rudeness; telling me that they cannot control the rain; that I should just sign up on the website and not ask questions; that I should just hang up and sign up with another company if I was worried about the rain. All I wanted to know was whether the firefly ride was weather-dependant, and he didn't even end up answering my question! Needless to say, this was not the experience I expected; in the end, we enjoyed the fireflies with another tour company.

Without going into details , I also received rude and unprofessional service as described by person who posted "Bad Service" below. I had to cancel my booking well within the stated time frame and asked a straightforward question about the deposit that only required a "yes" or "no" answer. I did not have access to previous emails and could not recall so was going by what was written on their invoice/terms. I was accused of " pretending not to remember" and "twisting words" . All I was looking for was a "yes" or "no" answer.
I do not doubt the guides do a good job and Jasmine who helped me initially was very helpful and professional. However, the manager's response was unnecessarily rude . The sarcastic and aggressive tone of his response below to the "Bad Service" post says it all.
My last email to him was two days ago and I have not had the courtesy of a reply.

Dear Madam,
Whether you can or cannot access your email is not our problem.
Just to clarify your “YES” and “NO”.
Your 1st email to us was on the 6th Nov, 2014. Your email enquiry contents were as follows,
“Hello from XXXXXXX,
I am planning to book your 2 day Cameron Highlands and Batu Caves tour January 21-22 . Is it possible to change the hotel to the Cameron Highlands Resort? If so, what would the additional charge be? Thank you.
Thanks
XXXXXXX”
Our staff had corresponded by several emails with you and upon agreed by you and us (willing seller and willing buyer),
We have clearly stated in our website that a deposit is required to confirm your 1 night / 2 days Cameron Highlands tour, and before you made your booking online on the 7th Nov, 2014, you have been emailing us regarding the tour and so on.
After every effort taken by our office to make your holiday a sweet one in Malaysia, and upon arranging the hotel (for our driver) and assigning a vehicle for you and your partner, we sent you the Invoice and Tour Confirmation in PDF format via email and the email contained most information (basic terms and conditions) regarding the tour you have booked on the 9th Nov, 2014 for 21st and 22nd Jan 2015 for Batu Caves and Cameron Highlands
PLEASE READ the email we sent to you on the 9th Nov, 2014, at the11th line of the email it says “Deposit paid is non-refundable once the Proforma Invoice and Tour Confirmation are issued and please read our refund policy in our website (http://www.mmadventure.com/info/refund-policy.htm)”
As off 9th Nov, 2014, your tour was confirmed till you gave us a call (hotline number) on the 19th Jan, 2015 and said you wanted to cancel the tour, and I (Michael) told you please email us your cancellation, and the cancellation must be replied with our email containing the tour confirmation terms and conditions.
On the 20th you wrote to us, I am cancelling the tour and I want my deposit to be refunded, tell me Yes or No, upon reading your last email, we ask you to read the email containing the terms and conditions, you just kept on saying I can’t access it. Is that our problem when you can’t access your email?
That is the last email correspondence with us.
If you think we have not honored your transaction (deposit), you should inform PayPal / your Bank (that issued your credit card) and since you were already in Malaysia on the 19th Jan, 2014, you should have gone to The Ministry of Culture, Art and Tourism of Malaysia or make a Police report that MM Adventure Travel and Discovery Sdn. Bhd. had cheated your money.
This shows that, you are the biggest crab

I called up to enquire about the tours they offer but was greeted by someone i assume is one of the tour guides/agents with much hostility. They accuse me as being one of their "competing tour companies" and refuse to tell me more about the tours i enquired, fearing that i will "copy and paste their tours and offer cheaper deal". The person kept telling me to go to their website to check which i did, however it was so cluttered and user -UNFRIENDLY (like their agents), hence I called to enquire more. I tried explaining that to the person i was speaking to and he sounded pretty frustrated and just told me that all the tours are full booked and slammed my phone down. Very unprofessional bunch of people, and needless to say i will never go on a tour with them EVER.

Dear Madam,
I answered your call; do not turn that tele conversation into something it was not or as you like. Basically your question was “I have a guest from mainland China, we want to get a Chinese speaking guide for our guest and they prefer a Sit in Coach Tour and I will like to check if there is a seat available for the 12th January”. I then told you over the phone that the Sit in Coach is non-customizable, we have only an English speaking guide in the vehicle.
I ask you to check our website for further details for both Sit in Coach and Private Tour, your answer was “I’m very confused with your Website”, I need an answer over the phone and you kept on demanding that I give you an answer over the phone.
My answer to your questions was very clear, at this moment you can’t check for availability of seats / dates as we do not have Real Time booking system and Mandarin or Cantonese speaking guides are subject to availability for Private tours only.
I had asked you to read our contents in our website, you will know what you are looking for, but you said you had read the website, and got confused and did not understand. I presume, you did not understand our simple English, if so, and then what do you expect us to do for you.
And I told you that, for any enquiry / special request / you need to use our online Enquiry form, when you refused to listen and did not want to use our online Enquiry Form, then we will not be able to help you in any way, our Company Policy.
Even after explaining all this to you, you were still demanding that I give you the answer over the phone, for me the only way out from your ridiculous call at this point was to just end it.
Please take note; I do not owe you anything over the phone.
Thank you

I wasn't sure whether to bother with this review, but then I thought others would might appreciate the heads up. There are different scams out there - this is one of them.
We booked a trip with this company hoping to have an authentic, intimate experience. What we got was arrogance, reckless driving and, honestly, good old 5$ hustling. We got ZERO useful information as our guide refused to actually tell us anything.
As soon as we got into the car, our guide (conveniently named "Patrick") began our "tour" by telling us that we have to upgrade our package. He said that all the good testimonials from Tripadvisor are based on private tours and we ordered a joint trip instead (slightly cheaper version). On the day of the tour, it turned out that we were the only ones to have booked this day, so our guide had to do the tour just for the two of us. He clearly was not happy about that.
We really did not think it was our fault, since they had our phone numbers and emails all the time and could have informed us about any changes or cancellations.
Apparently, the cheaper package that we ordered did not include a visit to the countryside, "monkey food", extra courses at dinner and fresh coconuts (which cost up to 4 ringgits = 1.2$ downtown KL). We only wanted to see Batu caves and the firefly resort, so we refused to pay extra. After we refused his bullying continued with the tour we booked, "Patrick" proceeded to drive us without saying much more, albeit he did mention a few more times that we were wrong with our choice ("here are the palm plantations - if you bought a different package, we would have shown you the products they make").
Probably the part that irritated me the most was the "monkey feeding". While driving to the feeding grounds, "Patrick" suddenly stopped the car in front of a man and opened our window. He said now you have to buy monkey food. The guy introduced himself as a friend of the "guide". They spoke Hindi for a second and laughed. The man then proceeded to hustle 10 ringgits for monkey food. This was plain ugly, as when we finally arrived at the car park, the same stuff was sold for 1/10 of the price.
We then arrived at the restaurant — food was included in the price of our trip. The staff was rude and the food was bland. Here we met a group who purchased the more expensive package and got an extra 3 dishes of bland food (thats 3 dishes per group, not person).
On our way back to KL, "Patrick" seemed to be eager to return home after having a drink at the restaurant and was speeding in the rain while making a phone call. We felt unsafe and finally relieved when we he dropped us off.
Our guide failed to explain anything useful to us during this trip.
I got more insight into this beautiful country from my taxi driver on the way from KLIA. I recommend you look elsewhere if you would like to truly experience Malaysia. This is an amateur tourist scam. They bring you to the most touristy places and continue to try and scam you of money at every point.
These people are UNPROFESSIONAL and DISHONEST.
P.S. Your first clues as to the nature of this company should be the primitive booking system (aka "Wire me 50 MYR and I'll see what I can do") and the arrogance of the staff. The upcoming comment/reply to this message will surely show you how unprofessional they really are.

Dear Sir / Madam,
Thank you very much for highlighting our Sit in Coach Tour.
How did we Scam you!
This is what we provided you for your Sit in Coach
1) We provided you the 2 way transfers
2) We did serve you dinner (we did not provide you bread and butter for you dinner)
3) We did pay for the boat ride too watch firefly
4) It will be point to point transfer with driver only
5) We have stated, you need to buy your own monkey food
6) No drinks provided in this sit in coach tour
7) No USP
8) No additional stopping or visit
The above are stated in our website so you knew you what you are paying for…….
Sorry dear Sir / Madam, we think you Scam yourself.
When you call a tour scam, did we scam you or you scam yourself? I personally think it’s not a scam, you bought a Sit in Coach (joint tour) tour, that means there might or might not be others in the vehicle, and as we had mentioned in our website what we provide and not in this sit in coach tour, such as the sit in coach tour will be point to point transfers, no additional stopping and etc.
Basically you know what you are buying for your sit in coach Batu Caves and Firefly tours and what you will be getting and not. You were expecting to get Quality, Uniqueness and a Personalized touch with a USP in Sit in Coach tour, come on……….
We have stated in our website (mainly so you won’t miss this tag line, as it will show in two pages before you made the online booking) and we have stated for Quality, Uniqueness and a Personalized touch with a USP you can chose the private tour, which cost additional US$10 ~ US$12 per person (estimate only).
We know our drivers very well, they do not drive recklessly, you just want to find fault with us for not giving you a quality / Uniqueness / Personalized touch as you wanted in a Sit in Coach tour.
So now, you are saying about the food, were you expecting lobster to be served for your dinner? As we have stated in our website it will be a simple Malaysian Dinner.
If you got a beautiful experience from the taxi driver, why didn’t you ask the taxi driver to take you to the Batu Caves and Firefly tours, you know very well that you booked the Sit in Coach tour after reading the reviews in TA and you know very well that the reviews are based on our Firefly Private Tours, that’s the only reason you booked the Sit in Coach with us because it’s cheaper then the taxi driver.
Regarding your complaint about stopping at a stall that sells monkey food, we could not stop at any other place except a stall that sells monkey food at the Melawati Hill for you to buy monkey food or not, it was your choice if you wanted to buy or not as we do not sell monkey food, and we can’t stop at McDonald’s to buy monkey food. You cannot complain after you yourself had bought the monkey food to feed the monkeys as, if you had thought it was expensive, you did not have to buy it.
You know very well, you bought our Sit in Couch tour and you were expecting us to provide you the Private tour qualities, Sorry dear Sir / Madam, we think you Scam yourself.

I sent an email to MM Adventure to enquire about a bespoke private day tour in KL. I was directed to one of their off-the-shelf tours. So I re-sent my enquiry to confirm that I was interested in only two attractions and not the full package they offer on their website. I was then given the price but when I sent a follow up email with other questions regarding timings, size of group, type of car etc., I was told the following:
“Hi, 19th we are fully booked. Please read. Thank you XXX” (I have omitted the name to maintain professionalism).
Thinking I must have missed something, I asked what exactly it was that I was meant to read. I was told:
“Hi, Read what we have written in our website Which country are you from? Thank you XXX”
So a complete disregard for my questions which were specific to my needs and clearly not answered on the website. The link she had directed me to involved a day tour of over 8 attractions when I only wanted two and therefore, the itinerary was spread out over 12 hours when my intended tour would not have taken that long.
I then responded to say that I was surprised and frustrated by their lack of personal service and that I was glad not to have made the mistake of booking with them based on the service received thus far. These are the responses I received:
“Hi, If you can’t understand our simple English, we won’t be in any help to you. Thank you XXX”
Then 17 minutes later, I received this:
“Hi, Thank god you did not book with us, ……………….. others who booked with us had the best and memorable time with us. Regards XXX”
I can safely say this is the worst customer service that I have ever experienced.

Dear Madam,
If the dates are not available, we will refund the deposit paid and we cannot confirm the tour due to the reason we are fully booked.
It's simple, we only ask you to read all the info in our website, if you choose not to read and keep jumping to us, we will ignore your email.
This does not make us right, neither you.
We do not owe you anything and don't threaten us that you will publish in TripAdvisor and so on.
Thank you

I've spent all morning being emailed some very obnoxious and rude messages from someone called Jasmine at this company.
I tried to book a firefly and batu cave tour for this December and though I wanted to travel on a specific day, I inserted an alternative day into the request form as well because it stipulated that you had to in order to confirm your booking. Though I'm going to be in Malaysia on said day, I will have only just landed from a night flight and didn't want to go on an 8-hour tour straightaway – which is why I put the day after my arrival as my preferred travel date.
When my confirmation came through – after paying my deposit – I checked the booking and the date given was my alternative date. There was no reference to this made in the actual email. I promptly relied asking Jasmine at MM Adventures if there was a reason we couldn't travel on our preferred date.
Her response read: 'Your deposit will be refunded shortly. Next time, please read the form carefully.'
As I had asked a question I was quite shocked with this curt response which clearly ignored what I had queried.
I replied: 'Hi Jasmine, Does that mean we are not able to do the batu cave and firefly tour on Saturday 21st December? Thank you'
A further response came: 'If you can’t travel on certain dates, then you should not fill in that date/s in the booking form column. If you are still interested, please book online.'
By this time I was quite baffled as my questions about the date I wanted were being ignored, I was being told to re-book (?) but I'm not sure what for and the passive aggressive manner of the emails that constantly accused me of being unable to fill in a simple form came across as really quite rude.
I responded by explaining that in order to book, the form required an alternative date but that I really would rather do the other day if at all possible – I still hadn't been told what was wrong with my preferred day. I also let Jasmine know that I don't think her customer service is up to scratch in this instance.
The reply came: 'It will work without the alternative date column been filled in, we know how the form work. If you do not fill in the alternative date, and if the required date is fully booked what do want us to do?'
This was the first time I'd actually been told that the date I wanted to go on the tour was fully booked. That is all I wanted to know. If I had been told that in the first instance I would have had the opportunity to weigh up whether it is better to book a different tour operator on my preferred day or go on the alternative date with this tour.
I replied: 'All I wanted was for you to tell me that the date I wanted to go on was fully booked already. This was not explained to me once until just now.
'When I asked you this, you didn't tell me, you just attacked me and told me I filled out the form wrong. That is very poor customer service indeed.'
The sarcastic response came back almost immediately: 'Thank you'
I've honestly never known anything like this from a company that are supposed to be trying to take money off you! Suffice to say I shall certainly not be booking with them if that is their attitude.
It's a shame because from the reviews on this site, it sounds like the tour itself is fantastic but the company has been very much let down by a bad apple that works in their Sales Department.

Hello Jasmine
Thank you for your email.
You have booked us in for our alternative date of Friday 20th December. Is it not possible to do the tour on our preferred date of Saturday 21st December?
If not I may have to cancel unfortunately.

I have no idea why people rate this company as excellent service! I called one of the number on the website, after texting them without any replies and finally spoke to a man. I was interested in booking a trip to do wet abseiling, and wanted them to email me to confirm payment details before I make any deposit to them. I have no problem paying deposit before the trip but would be more comfortable receiving an email confirmation prior to payment as a security from my side. And his reply?? "I am not sending out email, all details are online and if you are not comfortable paying deposit then forget about it, you can go with other company." Then he hung up! This is absolutely ridiculous!

Dear Madam,
"We have said stated very clearly in our website, we do not entertain calls or emails about discount / availability of places / seats / dates.
At this moment we do not take any bookings through Phones, all tours / trips /outings must be booked via our Online Booking Form."
The above massage is shown in our website and the link is found in all pages in our website.
If you choose to ignore our modus operandi, then you should stay away. NOT keep finding fault with us, because we did not reply to your emails / calls regarding discounts for your group of which you have been emailing and calling constantly.
Thank you
Regards

Hello! Would like to know how much a tour would be if it’s the elephant sanctuary and the fireflies colony with dinner - a tour for 2 people starting at around 2/3PM on February 24?
Please do advise. Thanks!

Dear MM Adventure,
We have booked two trips with you and you have taken the deposit money for both. You said that we would receive a confirmatory email within 30 minutes to 1 business day, but it has now been 6 days since we booked. Can you tell us what the problem is, as we have sent 3 emails and received no responses thus far.

Hello,
Me and my friend Kasia are the two backpackers interested in an individual trip package from KL to Taman Negara and after that to Cameron Highlands.
We would like to arranged transport to that places and maybe a guide too? We saw your post on the trip advisor and we would be happy to receive more details and the contact info for Shaan.
We would appreciate a quick answer as we're travelling in March.
Many thanks,
Magda

Dear Magda,
I was in Malaysia on August 2015 with my husband. Our trip was unforgetable because of the people and the nature, especially in Taman Negara. We realised that it was very easy to go from Kl to Taman Negara by public transport. In Taman Negara you can find buses to several destinations. In the bank of the river there are a lot of travel agencies in order to transfer to Cameron Highlands. Many backpackers like you travel alone. The country is very safe and all the people are very helpfull.
Have a nice trip

Hi, what is the best way to reach Caves from Kuching
Written 28 July 2015
Dear Sir / Madam,
Not sure which caves you are referring to, if Bau area, then it takes around two to three hours drive from Kuching, if Mulu or Niah Caves, than you need to take a flight from Kuching town to Miri.
