I really enjoyed visiting the Petronas Twin Towers whilst in Kuala Lumpur. If you're on holiday in Malaysia, this is definitely something for your bucket list and not something you want to miss.
The only thing to point out is because this place is very popular, you have to book in advance. Although you can go in and order tickets there and then, it is likely you won't be able to get tickets to visit for the same day. We visited on the Sunday and earliest you could buy tickets for was the Thursday. This is not a criticism of the Petronas Towers - the staff can't really help it if it's popular!
As a result, you might expect the towers to be quite crowded and overrun with people. However, the staff take people up in groups of 20 meaning they effectively control the crowds well. At no point were we ever in a part of the tower than was too busy, so full credit to the staff for this.
On the tour, you are given more than enough time to look round the various areas of the tower. I actually thought the best place to take photos was the walkway halfway up the twin towers, as opposed to the top floor, which is something you might want to bear in mind.
The last stop on the tour is the 85th floor, where you can buy souvenirs. However, there is a separate souvenir shop on the ground floor which has a better selection - personally, I would wait until you get down to the ground floor, THEN have a look for sourvenirs.
The wares being sold were actually quite good quality and the prices were by no means unreasonable in the gift shop. As the gift shop on the ground is separate from the tour, what you can do is visit it at a later date without a ticket for the tower, which I thought was nice.
Overall, I really enjoyed going up what is now the world's tallest twin towers and I would definitely recommend paying a visit if you're in the area!

Like many other big cities, there is a tower (or in this case 2) that showcases the cities wonderful views and Petronas Twin Towers was no exception.
I advise you to book your visit before you leave home. We went to buy tickets on the Tuesday, but they were sold out and wew were unable to purchase ticket for the Wednesday and Thursday - you had to turn up and hope you would be lucky enough. We therefore booked tickets for thee Friday - and on the Friday the ticket price nearly doubled, it was pretty annoying.
The BONUS - we happened to be there the afternoon of the 25th anniversary of the towers and as we entered the gift shop at the end of our visit we were treated to a celebration ceremony and cultural performance which was amazing, we were so lucky! The towers are spectacular and it's hard to believe they are that old. From all around the city they standout beautifully.

Obviously much has already been said about this sight so I'll keep my review to the key things I got out of my visit.
1. I didn't pre-book as unsure of the weather and other visits planned but even though the website said Sold Out, I was able to turn up on the day (8.15am) and get a ticket for one of the first morning tours. They release a few hundred more for walk-ins but you need to be quick and not be looking for sunset slot.
2. The tour along the bridge part was much better than I expected as you learn fascinating facts about how it was designed (it's not actually attached but 'slots in') and they also have little alcoves where you can stand and be in a selfie with the bridge. Really neat idea.
3. There are a number of large (and good) souvenir shops but you can access the one at the bottom from the mall without the need of a ticket and it has the same items .
4. When wanting photos of the towers from outside don't take the usual one at the front as the towers are in the middle of a busy road with constant traffic at the roundabout. It is not isolated like I thought. So walk up past the fountain pools or go around the side and back for much better angles.
5. I nearly didn't bother to do the tour to the top as when you scale these towers you get a city view but no view of the tower itself, however...this one is different with being twin. You get great photos as you are at the top of one tower taking pics of the identical one just across so it works well.
6. I thought the tour time was well allocated and didn't find myself standing around waiting. The last stop is the shop up top so I lingered there as long as I wanted and made my own way back down - you don't need to return in your same group.

We booked before we left the UK. Comments in Trip Advisor suggest you can have 1.5 hours at the Towers so a 6.30pm session looked ideal. We would have daylight and then sunset. Getting there was easy with good signage in the KLCC shopping centre. We were within a group of around a dozen people which worked well. There was a 7 minute delay because they wanted to take photos of each couple or group for the inevitable experience photo but eventually we went up in the super fast lift to the Skybridge. We were given 10 minutes here which was probably about right. Everyone wanted to take photos of the views. Most of the windows had metal support structures so this was not that easy if you wanted an uninterrupted view of the city below. However, in the centre was a specially designed area that allowed photos without the bars so this was a popular spot. Once again there was a professional photographer keen to take the experience photos but also kind enough to take a photo using our own mobile phone.
We then went up to the higher observation deck on the 86th floor. Here the views were magnificent and there were lots of views and lots of photo opportunities. The metal supports were in evidence again but it was possible to get uninterrupted shots. We were allowed 15 minutes here.
The sun was now setting and the lights were coming on across KL. This allowed different photo opportunities but unfortunately we were ushered out into the lift and down to another area which was concentrated on gift sales and display of the pro photos. It was certainly possible to purchase an overpriced picture of yourself in front of the Towers or on the Skybridge. The big disappointment here though was that the viewing windows were not as clean as the other floors and it was not possible to take a decent picture of the ever darkening city below. We then had the experience of thunder and lightening and a deluge of rain. Again it was not possible to take decent photos.
The gift shop had a few items and we were interested in the t-shirts but the sizes were limited. The retail range was not as extensive as I expected.
By the time we were back at the ground floor we has spent around 45 minutes with our Tower experience; a lot less than the 1.5 hours suggested.
In conclusion we enjoyed the experience and the small group sizes made it more enjoyable but we did feel it was too rushed. Another 15 minutes on the observation deck would have seen a 5 star review.

Petronas Twin Towers is one of the tallest buildings in the world and has the highest two-story bridge in the world. It is a well known representation of Malaysia. The building houses offices but there is a photo point for tourists which is usually crowded most of the time so you really have to find the perfect angle for you to take that perfect shot with the twin towers. There are some who will offer you to take a photo of you but it cost around RM 10.

It is one of the most iconic buildings on earth. The ticket allows a visit to the suspension bridge and a higher vantage point, beyond the 80th floor. The ticket gives access at a precise time and the visit lasts just over an hour. Recommendation online purchase, with choice of time of entry. When we entered, then chosen by us, it was complete and there was a line for waiting for any holes.

Visited the Petronas Towers in February 2024. Reasonable to expensive price for admission. We found this venue well organised. You need to either pre-book a time to visit or can purchase on the day. Though purchasing on the day might mean you are given a tour time later. If you're lucky and it's quiet you may get in without too much delay. The tours are limited to a certain number. Meaning it provides less congestion an the ability to move around the observation deck without too many crowding issues.
Views are great though I recommend the KL Tower as a better option for photos.

World's tallest twin towers with a very modern outlook. Pre-booking tickets is recommended. You can turn up in person too during its opening hours provided tickets are available. Is very clean and well maintained. Looks stunning in the evenings when lit.

No trip to Kuala Lumpur is complete without a visit to the Petronas Towers. These stunning twin skyscrapers are an architectural marvel and offer unparalleled views of the city skyline. I was in awe as I gazed up at the towers' gleaming glass and steel structure.
The experience of visiting the Skybridge on the 41st floor and the Observation Deck on the 86th floor was truly unforgettable. The 360-degree panoramic views stretched out for miles, allowing me to fully appreciate the vibrant energy and modern development of Kuala Lumpur. It's a must-do activity for any first-time visitor.
The Petronas Towers are not just an iconic landmark, but also house a high-end shopping mall, restaurants, and other attractions. I'd recommend devoting a good half-day to fully experiencing all this architectural wonder has to offer. It's a true highlight of any KL itinerary.

Don't go at night! Beware of you aim for sunset, as soon as it gets a bit more dark the light inside will reflect on the windows. There is too much light in the building itself and outside spotlights to take proper photos and see the view at night. The windows are also dirty and with dust, specially above 80th floor.

Will the Petronas Tower be open to visitors during Chinese New Year celebrations on Wed 29th & 30th January 2025?
Thank you.

We're visiting at the end of June and understand that the best time to visit is after 17:00. Is there a particular time that's quieter or offer's the best views?
Also, my Husband is terrified of heights. Are the sky walk and viewing area completely enclosed? Are the interpretation displays in a good place and suitable as a distraction for him if needed?
Many thanks!

thanks

So sorry for the late response, we spend about 1 and half hours but we also spend sometimes in the shopping malls.

Hi, is a 'skip the line' ticket required , or is the normal queuing time acceptable?
Written 29 March 2024
We bought tickets online before travelling and it worked out fine. It’s all very well organised.
We actually got there early and tried to join an earlier tour but were told to come back at the time stated on our tickets.

Saludos

Written 2 June 2023
Hello Esha G. There's no easy answer to your question. Not every visitor will have the same question. Your's is more of a hypothetical question. If you got a job at The Towers, you'll surely be trained in all aspects of your duties. But I reckon most visitors would want to know how to book for the tour to the top. I trust this is helpful. Has anyone from the US figured out a way to purchase e-tickets directly from the official Petronas Towers website? The options offered on TripAdvisor are much more expensive than the actual ticket cost. Unfortunately the Petronas website does not accept Visa, Mastercard, GooglePay, ApplePay or even payment from any US banks.
