About
Known to locals as Pasar Seni, this bazaar houses more than 350 shops retailing traditional goods, art collectibles, local handicrafts, and more. The three zones—Lorong Melayu, Lorong Cina and Lorong India—feature stalls that highlight the three main races in Malaysia. Experience the different cultures and heritage as you browse through the shops. You can also snag unique souvenirs like Borneo pearls, Wau Bulan (a traditional Malay kite), and the quintessential Batik for keepsakes. When hungry, don’t miss trying local hawker fare like nasi kandar, goreng pisang, or ais kacang for a much-needed energy boost. The market is also within walking distance from Petaling Street. – Tripadvisor

Worth a short afternoon visit if you have time in KL.
We visited Pasar Seni on a Thursday afternoon and traffic was smooth which was good. Most shops were peddling craftwork and/or batik clothings and shoes. The market is huge (2-storey) and looks clean inside too. We only wished there were more to see as honestly, it was quite bare. Thankfully KL Chinatown was near (opposite) and we spent the rest of our afternoon there.
Thank you for your visit to Central Market Kuala Lumpur. Glad you were enjoying your visit. On another note, we believe you have noticed that some upgrading works in progress, thus please be assured there will more new retailers, and the exciting "Pasar Besar" - A Malaysian Market opening later this year, so please do come back whenever you are in KL. Cheers and stay safe.

Always a pleasure to stop by
Usually try to include a visit here whenever I’m in KL mainly to get most of my souvenir shopping done in a single spot! I appreciate the variety of retailers under a single roof to help diversify the gifts to purchase beyond the usual magnets and keychains. Was even pleasantly surprised to find some aircraft models amidst the collection of mini Petronas Towers for sale in a couple places! One outlet I loved the most was Paper Adventures by Loka Made which had uniquely designed postcards made by local artists. But what made it even more unique about that retailer is that they also sold stamps (The mismatch of stores selling postcards but not stamps is high in my travel list so this was sorely appreciated!) as well as a mailbox to send them out.
Thank you for your visit to Central Market Kuala Lumpur, and we are so glad to know that we are your favorite souvenir shopping hub whenever you are in town. We will definitely send your love to Paper Adventures, and we pretty sure they are going to be extremely to hear this coming from you. On another note, we believe you have noticed that some upgrading works in progress, thus please be assured there will more new retailers, and the exciting "Pasar Besar" - A Malaysian Market opening later this year, and it will be much more exciting for you to explore what's in store. Please do come back whenever you are in KL. With love from everyone of us at Central Market Kuala Lumpur, stay lovely and stay safe. Always.

    Small ,old and nice
I was sooo glad to visit such an old place like the central market as it was constructed since 1888 ! It is two floors only but the ground floor is full of great souvenir retailers that buy souvenirs with reasonable prices ! I bought most of my magnets and key chains from their shops . The toilet there was so clean but chargeable u should pay few ringgit to enter so no problem for me . I recommend u to go there and china town at the same time because the central market is so small and u can stay for few hours not the whole day and also because it is from a walking distance from china town so save your day go both at the same day . They both are worth the visit 👍🏻

    Arty and crafty
Central market is a craft market indoors as long as I remember when I was a kid living in KL. We used to hang out here being as cool as we can. Looking back those were the great memories of fun and loving teenage years. I am glad to come here with my daughter and brother despite a hot summer day over 30 degrees Celsius. Best to park here as there are many parking spaces or if not there are indoor car parks near Petaling street. Traffic can be bad and it is now a one way street. Buildings around were here since the 1800s and you can only admire the amazing architectures. Definitely a place to visit if you want to look and buy some of the local crafts and goods.

Good place to rest before heading out
To a non-shopper like me, what I love here most is the air condition, especially since we have been in the sun for the last 6 hours. Secondly what I like about here is the ethnic fashion. This whole place really makes me feel like I am in Malaysia. There is food court here as well, so definitely a good place to rest and recharge before heading out to explore again.

    Beautiful art and culture
My childhood haunt with many of us fascinated by the artistic and cultural richness Malaysia has to offer under 1 roof. The architecture of the building itself is worth the visit. In it many stalls including the Penang Pewter just as good as the Selangor Pewter. Many kerosene, kites, bags hand crafter and made with utmost skill and talent. The paintings are amazing. You could have your portrait painted for as little as $250.

During my interaction with the taxi drivers and hotel staff, everyone recommended to go to Central Market for souvenir shopping. Now I can surely say that they were right!!

Its a kind of a small shopping plaza with almost all the shops selling local handicrafts and souvenirs. The prices are also reasonable. It also has a food court and a couple of restaurants which serve good food.

I would definitely recommend a visit to this place.

An excellent place to experience "street shopping" in closed area with cooling systems. Good variety of shops and food options. Can do all your souvenir shopping and more when here. There was a band giving live performance, Christmas spirit was all around. All in all, will go back here every time I am in KL.

Market is good , but the area is not safe neither at day or night , at night near the exit of market near 7 eleven there are lots of drug addicts homeless people lurking and at day time they are sleeping on floor or standing in middle of street or road smoking weed or taking drugs , I don't know why the KL police or authorities not doing any thing , last time I was there before COVID things were not as bad as they are now I did not like this area specifically going out with my little baby in stroller these drug addicts looks dangerous.

Thank you for leaving us a review. Visitors feedback is important for us to know if we are doing a good job. We understand your concern on security matters due to the presence of homeless not too distance away from our complex. While we, along with Kuala Lumpur Downtown Community society have been talking to the responsible government agencies pertaining to this, we on the other hand are tackling this issue within our capacity by adding more security personnel and auxiliary police 24/7/365. We can understand why you are scared, but rest assured the temporary measures taken proven to be effective. However, we will not deny that we are expecting a more permanent solution by the responsible authority in response to this matter. Do come back whenever you are in town as we believe the situation will eventually improve.

The market is very close to the Petaling Street Chinese market that has crowded stalls of knockoff products. Our local tour guide told us not to go there which after looking at the area, we agreed. The Sentral Market is a few steps better but definitely not worth going to. There were homeless immigrants along one nearby street. We did not see anything of interest. Our guide also told us to take a grab back to our hotel since it was safer than the train. There was a grab location near Kodak Express store. Would definitely not recommend

My main aim to visit this market was because of the fish spa. Being in the area, it seemed the best opportunity to have my feet tickled by these tiny fish.
Very little has changed since my last visit, but it is always worth a look. I did find though, that the restaurants upstairs closed earlier than what I thought they would. Perhaps it was just as well that there were plenty of restaurants outside to choose from for my evening meal.

Visited as some markets are usually a good place for trinkets, clothing etc. This was a good clean and friendly market with all the stalls you would expect. Some touristy based ones with some more authentic clothing at good prices if you walk around. Easy to get to with public transport nearby.
