A visit to Masjid Jamek was like visiting an typical Indian Bazaar. There were authentic Indian restaurants and the street side cloth and novelty stores brought about a reminiscence of visiting an Indian Bazaar in India

Well, its better to arrive around 10 am where most of the shops are open and just like any other shops in other areas, it closes around 10-11 pm. Whenever there are customers, i presume the shops close later.
