Oddly enough the free non profit art gallery has vanished during the pandemic though sponsored by one of the key companies bringing wealth to Malaysia, Petronas oil. This is really a pity as it was allways showing interesting pieces of local contemporary art and easily accessible while shopping.

The national oil company had an art gallery already in 1992 before the famous towers were built. These abstract paintings show that expressionism arrived to Malaysia late, only in the 1950's and has held a strong position in the local art world. One of the pictures in the enclosed portrait exhibition stands out as exceptional, the Heart surgery by Hoessin Enas from 1980 as the author is obviously the patient. Pop into the gallery on the third floor while shopping, the space is open from 10-20, Mondays closed.

The Galeri Petronas is up on the third floor of the Suriya Mall. I found I ran out of signage before I found it - sort of round a corner.
Displays change. The current one, to April 12, is of abstract expressionism and portraits. Notes on the artwork are clear and helpful if you know nothing about the Malaysian art scene ( like me!)
The gallery is spacious and well lit, and was fairly quiet. Worth seeking out.

Nestled in the bustle of KLCC mall is Petronas Gallery. A fine collection of local artists pieces, and it's great to take a timeout from busy schedule to just enjoy the arts.

I came to view some of Malaysia's millenial artists' works and they're awesome plus its free for the public. I hope I could go back in July 2019 to see more. Thank you KL, Petronas!

Many people may not like this attraction if their interest does not match with the exhibits displayed. The ambience is good. No crowding. No lines or ques.

When shopping in the Suria KLCC at the Petronas Towers I allways take time to visit also their free art gallery on the 3rd level. It was the final day for an exhibition of contemporary art through Malaysian tradition as seen by artists representing several neighbouring countries. The installation with a patchwork tent and cloak made of plastic beads were interesting, there was also a performance by a young woman chanting and dancing. All the exhibitions I have seen over the years have managed to show me new sides of multicultural Malaysia.

It is on the 3rd floor of Suria KLCC. If you are a art lower it is good place for you. It offers a rich cultural heritage and a pulse of Malaysia and its people
