MUD: THE STORY OF KUALA LUMPUR, The Musical, traces the story of the capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur's early beginnings as a small agricultural village of the 1850s, to an industrial tin mining town of the 1880s, and to becoming the administrative capital of the Federated Malay States in 1896. It's told through the lives of three friends who find that by facing their challenges living in this growing town, they find themselves too. MUD infuses traditional theatre form with modern theatrical technology. This 1-hour musical is a visual feast that will not only excite all visitors to Malaysia, it also commemorate the bricks that built this city we call our home. MUD is housed within the 112-year-old Panggung Bandaraya, or City Theatre, built at the confluence of Klang River and Gombak River. This building rose among the KL's early architecture. A Moorish façade wraps this building, which has been classified as a heritage building under the Antiquities Act. MUD: THE STORY OF KUALA LUMPUR is presented by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), a project by Visit KL, and produced by Tiara Jacquelina, award-winning producer of Puteri Gunung Ledang and P.Ramlee The Musical under Enfiniti Vision Media.

Such a good show! I work in a theatre back home so see a lot of shows, and I can honestly say I really really enjoyed this! The songs, dancing, and actors/actresses were all amazing! Plus the added bonus of learning a bit of the history too! I would highly recommend to everyone who comes here! Just a shame there... More

A very nice place to visit and spend a couple of hours. The musical play takes 1 hour but then you can take some photos with the actors or players. You get to learn about Malaysia history and you get the chance to jump on stage with them when they invite you for dancing too.

It was so enjoyable to watch through the brief history of KL in the format of a musical. The show was nicely written, with all sorts of light and sound effects. (Can't tell you everything here, otherwise you would miss the surprises and astonishment.). Audiences are encouraged to immerse themselves into the songs and dances. It was a happy hour... More

This musical performance documents an early period in the development of KL. It emphasizes the cooperation of different ethnicities and religions in the building of this city during it's formation and during the fire and flood that destroyed it. The cast was very talented and there was room for a lot of audience participation.

Kuala Lumpur's past presented in a beautiful, immersive, interactive and informative performance that will take you through a multi-cultural and emotional roller coaster ride. Highly recommended. Also, if anyone's wondering, "lumpur" means mud in Malay, enjoy the show.

MUD is just excellent, spirited, well done. Malaysians excel at everything! And they are all so beautiful! Sort of funky audience participation, but okay as they got included in musical piece. Many reviews already here I agree with. Go see it!

So much more than I expected, a colourful, vibrant, dramatic experience. Be ready to get up and participate as they do call on a few members of the audience!

And what's more, our teenagers (11, 13, 15) said that all theatre performances should be like this. It's a fairly short show (1 hour) with more people on stage than in the audience, but a very enthustiastic cast.
