We took the opportunity to learn about Nonya cooking. We were welcomed as though we were family and learned about the cooking from a chef and assistant as well as the owner. We made interesting food and had a great afternoon learning about the cooking techniques and the unique flavors used in making the food.

Went here in the afternoon and was served with authentic malaysian food filled with spices and mouth watering flavour. We were also given great recommendations not only on the food offered but also local tourist sites and tips to best maximise our experience in KL.

Sarang was recommended to us by a local so we were excited to try it out, and we've been back several times. This hidden gem is tucked away from the busy streets of KL. Christina and her team take great pride in their food and service. The delightful menu is well crafted and inspired by Peranakan, Malay and Indian cultures... More

While in KL I had the opportunity to do a cooking class here at Sarang Cookery. It started with an in depth introduction to Nonya cooking and then we went to cook four dishes. We were assisted by three different chefs who helped us with technique and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the class. It was interactive... More

We searched a long time to find a class that would teach the art of Malaysian Kuih Cooking. Fortunately the team at Sarang Cooking School agreed to do 'customised' course for the 4 of us from Australia. It was very hands on which was great and we learned to make 4 items. We were able to eat the items after... More

Kuala Lumpur is a slightly off-putting city for first-time visitors like we were. After negotiating the crazy streets and construction sites between the bus drop-off and our hotel, we delighted to find Sarang Cookery just around the corner from where we were staying. The dinner we had there on the first night was so good, with its surprising flavours, that... More

If you do ONE thing in KL, do this cooking class! I take cooking classes in every country I backpack, and there simply is no comparison. Christina, the owner, creates such a warm and fun environment. The chefs walk you through each dish, and most importantly you have your own station so you truly get to cook ALL the food... More

The best (only?) thing to do in KL is eat. In the spirit of avoiding mall food, a place like Sarang is a great way to get a taste of truly local cuisine. Food at Sarang is made fresh to order and there's a lot of variety. You can go the safe route by getting noodles or some other dish... More

A great opportunity to learn about Malaysian cuisine from truly passionate locals. The experience was extremely engaging as you learn not only the cooking techniques but the origin of the cuisine, making you respect and appreciate the dishes that much more. Highly recommended addition to your activities in KL as it will help you to understand the culture of this... More
