Hoping to exit the museum with a better sense of Maldivian history, we exited with bemusement at the low quality of items displayed and very little in the way of information that celebrates their culture/history. See the photo I posted of the encased Overhead Projector, yes they put one of these 'relics' from the 80's in a glass case an... More

I dont recall the price, but it was sort of cheap although you have to pay a fee to take pictures. The building is beautiful, but the museum pieces are just scattered without much division and categorization. Anyway it was quite interesting to learn a bit of the history of this intriguing country which is Maldives :)

The Museum is in a big and beautiful building, but the collection doesn't give an idea of what the Maldives really is, nor of the history of the country - eg. there's not enough information about the human occupation of the islands, nor about the pre-islamic period.

This is just a small museum for a small country. Good to go if you have time in Male so you have a better understanding of the country and the culture.

Our flight was late night and we spent a day in Male, we had mixture of good and bad experience in there that you can find them in my reviews. Museum is not one of the must see attractions we went there just because we have a long free time. Nothing special are held there maybe they aren't attractive to... More

Went to take pictures of some artifacts of Maldives history. Love the architecture. The only museum in the capital. Male' city has no many places to visit. Museum is one of the few.

It is not very big but does have some interesting things. Has many historical items and some old tech items of note. Also many old Koran's.

National Museum was opened on November 11, 1952, by the Prime Minister at the time, Mohamed Amin Didi. The new building of the museum is located in Sultan Park. The building was designed, built and financed by the Chinese government. The building was presented to the Maldives by the Chinese government on 10 July 2010, but was officially opened and... More

Nice museums.the collection is a diverse collection of artifacts, coins, royal antiques, costumes, armor, stamps (very interesting), and some more modern items. I did find the souvenirs pricey compared to the local market where one has a chance to bargain. Here it was fixed price overall worth a visit
