Walking through downtown Andrews, I stumbled on a building, remodeled from the past. Fern Crest Winery now occupies what once was he first gas station in Andrews. Although the building has been remarkably updated and restored, one can see the remnants of the gas station. The modern wooden doors hang throughout the building but the old brick walls can't hide the building's age. The owner was friendly and very knowledgeable about grapes and wines. The tasting offered samples of good red and white wines. I purchased a bottle of Riesling to take home. Surprising experience in a small mountain town.

You can do a tsting of 5 wines is $10 and you keep the stemless glass. The wines were pretty good, and we enjoyed talking to the owners. They have some nice whites and medium bodies reds. They will only get better as the wines are young and the location is new. Very easy to get to and right in the middle of Andrews. The tasting room is well done and decorated well. They also sell some other wine related items and jelly.

After doing a tasting in March, The winery held a private event for our wedding guests of site and provided excellent service. They brought 6 wines of our choosing and hosted a 2 hour tasting/ happy hour for 50 guests. Our guests were extremely impressed with the wine selection and professionalism. This was a great event for a wedding weekend and it let my wife and I focus on our guests instead of the logistics. I would recommend this for anyone planning special events in Andrews NC.

Jan, was the perfect hostess. She explained the grapes that were used to make their delicious wines and it was a fun tasting. We bought a bottle of Southern Lady White. She told us about a fair in Brasstown that we had hoped to go to but life got in the way!

Stopped in this really nice tasting room on Main Street in Andrews North Carolina and was surprised and delighted to find some good wine, in a nice atmosphere, with a very cool and friendly proprietor. They had a good range of white and red wines, some from their own vineyards and some from other local vineyards. Definitely worth the stop! Check it out. Oh, and I did not know about this grape “Cynthiana” but it’s delightful!

Helpful and friendly staff. A variety of choices. My favorite is Autumn Rose. I hope to visit again as it is just a few minutes from Murphy.

We had an uncrowded tasting session with the owner. They only produce 750 gallons per annum making them a nanowinery for sure. Their dark rose was the standout unique beverage. North American grapes, beautiful color and not overly sweet. We bought a dry white and red and paired them with dinner. Although I can get a "better" wine for the price at my local wine shop, the novelty of having a good wine from western North Carolina is worth a try. And the tiny town of Andrews is a sweet place.

We visited Fern Crest Winery and had some excellent wine. The owner/manager was very informative about the wines and also the history behind the name chosen for their winery. The cost of $5.00 to taste 5 wines and to also keep the stemless tasting glass was more than reasonable. We left with a couple of bottles of our favorites and will most definitely return when we are again in Andrews, NC.
