Much of the city of Patara remains buried in sand, which has helped to preserve many of the ruins. Of particular interest are the Amphitheatre, Necropolis and the monumental gate or Arch of Triumph.

I recommend everybody passing nearby visiting the place. But better do it early morning (6-8 AM) while temperature is not too high. In addition to baths and the theater, I also discovered excavations of an ancient lighthouse, destroyed by the tsunami. Then you can walk...More

The Patara ruins are truly stunning, the work that has been done to recreate their former glory conjures up that wonderful feeling of being able to see what a place was like originally, hundreds of years ago.

Greta historical ruins, well in tact. Spectacular views of the artefacts. Not a bunch of stones. It gives you the feeling that you were in that ancient city ones.

Some of the ruins have been wonderfully restored and give you a good feeling of what it must have been like all those years ago. The small entrance fee is worth it. Ongoing excavations are still been done and each year a little more is...More

Not to big as I expected, but well worth visiting. When entering the area on foot or by Dolmus, you have to pay the entrance fee for the ruins and for the beach. There is a parking place and public toilets. You can ask the...More
