We went straight to the giraffes. You can pay $2 and feed them. What a treat. Volunteers were throughout the zoo and would give good lessons. Elephants cooled off in the mud bath. The rhino stayed in shade. The polar bear and gorillas were real...More

We have been to zoos all over the world. This is the largest zoo that I am aware if and it is well maintained with an excellent collection. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. We go frequently.

All the exhibits were clean, roomy and well maintained. Animals were very visible. I hate going to a zoo where a lot of the animals are hidden. Trails were beautiful. My favorite was the aviary, I could have spent the whole day just looking at...More

This is unlike any other zoo you've ever visited because it its physical area is so large. Animal habitats are located among the hills and valleys of the Uwharrie Mountains which also means you need to bring your walking shoes. It's sometimes a long walk...More

I love how this zoo has been carved right into the landscape. It's so natural of a space that there are signs warning of wild venomous snakes that also call zoo grounds home. But it's cool, I promise. Lots of space in exhibits and Kid...More

We went with adults only and everyone enjoyed the day. It is reasonably priced at $15/$13 for seniors. If you have a aaa card bring it for a discount. The zoo is divided into America and Africa. I did use the America parking which was...More

I visited the zoo today and was "blown  away" by the friendliness and the design of the place where you take  a tractor pulled Safari. They give you cups of feed to feed the animals along the way and the crazy giraffes. I met the...More

This is a yes/no situation. Sometimes they are very close to the small pond that separates them from the waist high railing. You can get great photos there. If they are being fed then they are at the back of the exhibit.
