Well presented historic fort preserved very much like it was during the Civil War. Easy to walk on self guided tour but kids need to be watched as there are some big drops.

We stayed at Pine Knolls Shore & the Fort was worth the drive. A beautiful secluded beach within walking distance as well!

I haven't been here in years. They have done a magnificent job of restoring the old fort and have added many interesting exhibits. They have also built a new visitors center that is great.

I'm not sure. They are doing a beach erosion project with piping sand from the Fort Macon beach a mile or do down towards Atlantic Beach using large pipes. This is just a guess. Best thing to do is call the park
