The Hower House is one of the oldest house in Akron. Once owned by the Hower family, it is now the site of weddings, fund raisers and tours. The rooms are decorated in the same manner as they once were. History buffs will enjoy this.

Been to this "Beautiful Victorian Mansion" many times for High Tea, Christmas Special events etc. It is by far one of my favorite historical places to visit. The Victorian furniture, rugs, wall hanging etc.like none I've seen before. Being here is a beautiful and wonderful experience every time.

The initial fortune that made this house possible came from inventive men, but its maintenance, development, survival, and significance are due to the creative and philanthropic energy of two generations of extraordinary women in the family: Blanche Bruot Hower (1860-1953) and Grace Hower Crawford (1881-1973). Although we are not specially interested in the Victorian period, we resonated to this house... More

Hower House is a beautifully restored Victorian home. The carriage house has a collection of coaches and wagons that have also been restored.

The Hower Museum is a must see in Akron. This Victorian mansion is unusual with a center entry hall with several rooms radiating from this circle. An amazing wooden circular staircase takes you up three levels. Each room is tastefully completed in either Victorian or Empire furnishings. The top floor houses the travel trunks, with all the stickers indicating how... More

This late 19th century home of a rich merchant family (and they made everything including wicker baby buggies) is well furnished with period antiques. However, we have been most impressed with the programs arranged by the members of their board. Recent interesting ones have included such variety as a jazz piano recital and a program on historic restoration.

This museum can be done in 2 hours or less. There is always a coupon in some publication. Christmas is a fun time to go for the decorations.

Our guide shared much about the Howers and their importance to Akron history. A beautifully restored home. Linda was quite knowledgeable and shred her information well. At $6 for seniors, it is well worth the admission.

Best Friend, Robbin, and I went to see the Hower House on the campus of Akron University for a tea and a talk on some of the First Ladies' Jewels. It was a lovely day for an adventure! We arrived on time and found they had "over booked" our table so we had to "oust" the guest speaker to yet... More
