This is - by far - the best place to ride within 100 miles of Augusta. Well maintained, no crowded, and covered by Aiken EMS if ever needed. Other riders are friendly and courteous, never crowded, never run out of new sights. Then there is...More

Hitchcock Woods is one of the largest urban forests in America. It’s a great place to have a peaceful walk. Folks come with their horses to ride the many miles of trails. Truly a terrific asset for Aiken.

Absolutely lovely location right in the middle of town. Hitchcock Woods is a massive trailed woodland perfect for long hikes, horseback riding, or dog walking. My only suggestion is to bring bug spray and take a picture of the map before you walk in because...More

We’ve ridden in The Woods twice now and both trips were great. The trails are wide, clean, and well-marked. We saw lots of walkers and joggers but not many other horses. It’s definitely family-friendly and could keep children occupied for hours on horseback or on...More

After many years of visiting family in Aiken we finally made it to Hitchcock Woods. We should have been coming all along! What a beautiful place. Only saw two other people on foot. Saw six on horses. Make sure you download the map, or take...More

Great place to take your dogs for a morning run either on or off leash. You may encounter horses pulling carriages!

Nice trails that seem well-trodden. Only ran into one other hiker. I'll come back to walk the dogs again.

I came here to run trails, but it was a bit too sandy for that (unless you enjoy running in loose sand). It was gorgeous and quiet, though, for a walk.

We really enjoyed our hikes along the trails here, we wish we could ride our bikes but the hiking is great. We'd like to come back to check out the other trails, there are a lot of them. We picked up a few ticks along...More

I hike here every month with my dog. Sometimes 2 dogs at a time. It’s wonderful, many trails and entrances. Don’t go right before sunset- you can get lost and it’s very dark.

It’s just a tiny trickle. You might not even see it. No way you can swim. No swimming anywhere in Hitchcock woods. Much is sand. Black Gum pond has a murky bottom. Turtles and snakes. Black gum pond is not near Bebbington... More

There are places that board horses in Aiken. Your best bet would be to Google Aiken Horse Boarding. We walk in Hitchcock often and always see riders.
