Wonderful gem.

This place is a true treasure. My son is a fisherman, so this was great for him. I enjoyed the nature trail and dive show. Museum is interesting.

We accidently found this place. I had 2 grandsons with me that live to fish. There's tank after tank of Texas freshwater fish and valuable information. A video, a duvet in a huge stocked tank that feeds various fish as he talks about them. Kids were spell-bound. A tram ride around the hatchery, fascinated me. There are 4 good sized... More

I took mt 3 and 5 year old grandchildren here one rainy Saturday and they loved the 11:00 show with the scuba diving talking fish feeder. They loved the gift store to buy stuffed animals! A good recommendation for something to do when the weather is not great to play outdoors.

This is great for very young children because it is stroller friendly to walk around. Just the right size for little ones and they don't have to be over watch as they enjoy the fish.

This is run by the state of Texas and is a wonderful place to bring the family. They have many exhibits and a fishing pond. They supply the rod and bait or you can bring your own. They have a nature trail you can walk down and a tram that will carry you around and inform you on what is happening there.They... More

Took the family to visit the fresh water fisheries center. We were looking for something else to do on our family Christmas trip. This was an after thought, but a great visit. We all learned something from the visit, very informative. We would have really liked to see the tanks where they raise the fish, but the weather was bad... More

My teenage son and I visited the Fishery. He had been a couple of times before, but it was my first visit. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The fishing pond can keep you occupied for hours. I didn't spend much time looking at the exhibits, but they seemed educational.

We visited with my sister and her husband. They live in that area and we were looking for something close, inexpensive but still entertaining. We hit the nail on the head. We saw a Diver explain about the different species and feed some of them too. It's educational and intersting, plus the grounds are pretty.

We often take our school classes to the Hatchery for a day. Excellent staff, so knowledgeable and friendly. It's clear they love what they do for a living. Beautiful grounds, lots of things for kids and families to do together. Very community oriented. Each year they host trick-or-treating at the hatchery for all the kids in the community - a... More

We expected the Texas Freshwater Fishery to be interesting and it WAY exceeded expectations. Starting with walking around viewing all kinds of fish at eye-level. An amazing array. Not from Texas? Consider this an excellent addition to what you can learn about the State. A Texan? You will be amazed to learn how many lakes this fishery provides stock for.... More
