If it's in Texas, it must be bigger and better. That is the motto that architects followed with the Capitol Building in Austin. At one time, it was the tallest capitol building in the nation. Others might be taller now, but this is still a beautiful building that shows off many of the natural resources which are so prevalent in Texas, such as limestone and the landscapes.

Good for heritage lovers, architecture admirers and patriots. Spend an hour or 5 hours. Much to see, read and experience.

Plenty of outdoor statues with historic information. Guided tour was good, we were taken on multiple floors with elevators accessible for strollers as well. Gift shop is located downstairs a bit hard to locate if not on guided tour.

Segway tour you learn a lot about Austin through the guide. We made stops along the way. Enjoying the stop at the Capital. Was about a Easy on the feet. Dress comfortable. Tour last about 2 1/2 hours.

It may be the biggest and there’s no much unique character otherwise. Look at the lights - you’ll see TEXAS spelled out and lots of stars.

Stop at the State Capitol Visitor's Center first. View films about the Capitol and Texas history, in addition to seeing well done exhibits. Then walk to the State Capitol and take the free 30 minute guided tour of the Capitol. Very interesting and informative.

What a beautiful building with a lot of history. Unfortunately our tour guide was much more interested in keeping track of his time (he must have made 15 references to time during our tour) that it felt VERY rushed. When a question was asked at...More

Fun visit--drive by with brief stop of the Capital. Segways--aside from the Nerd factor--were a fun way to see and get around the City.

I've came here solo then brought my international friends here. Its a quick and easy visit (plus the air-conditioner inside makes it very pleasant in summer!!). Its a very interesting insight into politics with nice architecture.

While we did the red bus trip, the visit to Capital Hill is the one I would strongly recommend. Apart from being a beautiful building, tours are free and our guide was very interesting and informative. We are not Americans, so get a much better...More

Sorry Elizabeth, but I was in Dubai, UAE when you submitted the question. The #37 bus would have taken you from your location to 8th & Guadalupe. Only a few blocks from the Capitol.
