If it's in Texas, it must be bigger and better. That is the motto that architects followed with the Capitol Building in Austin. At one time, it was the tallest capitol building in the nation. Others might be taller now, but this is still a beautiful building that shows off many of the natural resources which are so prevalent in Texas, such as limestone and the landscapes.

The architecture of this building is fascinating. The fact that in order to get more space, they dug underground creating a basement is remarkable. The staff here is friendly and knowledgeable. A must see if you're in Austin Texas.

This was an absolute delight to visit. The interior was magnificent, with historic artifacts of all types. The grounds were beautifully laid out and maintained, full of historic statues of all sorts.

This was a stop on a tour I took. Well worth the time and effort to see this building and hear the many stories about it.

The capital of Texas is so full of history. It's beautiful. It's great to visit in the evening too as it's less crowded.

I've been to the Capital many times but it never ceases to awe. Beautiful craftsmanship! And today I saw things I'd never seen before. Take the docent lead tour, its free every 15 minutes. Don't miss the underground floors.

We were most impressed by how in September we could simply enter, via security of course, and look all around including both houses. We were impressed by the interior, the furnishings and how so much of it reminded us of the Palace of Westminster. We...More

It's worth seeing! We didn't have a lot of time but we were glad we stopped by to see this piece of Texas' history.

Sorry Elizabeth, but I was in Dubai, UAE when you submitted the question. The #37 bus would have taken you from your location to 8th & Guadalupe. Only a few blocks from the Capitol.
