The website says they are open 1:00-5:00 T-Sun. However, to see inside the house museum), you must wait for a tour. The tours are at 1:15, 2:00, 3:00, and 4:00. There is nothing to do there (except wander the grounds) while you wait. Also, no parking, just on the street (San Marcos) which is parallel parking wherever you find a... More

The grounds looked very pretty and well maintained. I went into the gift shop but there wasn't anyone to buy tickets from so I didn't get to take a tour of the inside of the museum. The gift shop was clean and nice though. Many things to buy. It was a charming little place. Parking was an issue. I had... More

A rather special place in many respects and a unique window into Austin's past. Well worth the stop and an hour. Be sure to go when they have a scheduled tour. The gift shop will have appeal to dedicated shoppers.

Very interesting place. Unique artifacts. You need to go there when there is a tour. No individual visit out of tours. Two young ladies who work there were very knowledgeable. Nice view of Austin too.

An underrated and interesting experience. I had some time to pass so I stopped in and am glad I did. As a history lover, this was great. To see all the old furnishings and architecture was great. Beautiful and unique art work is scattered about the grounds and the staff knows their stuff. Would certainly recommend.

Having gone to graduate school in Austin more than forty years ago and a regular visitor to the city since then, I had never been to the French Legation Museum. Well, shame on me!! It's a wonderful little place. The two of us were the only ones there, and we had the tour guide all to ourselves. Interesting history behind... More

We visited on a Friday afternoon and went on the four o'clock tour. We loved the beautiful grounds and the separate kitchen area with authentic cookware. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and cheerfully answered our many questions. If you are a history buff you will love this tiny gem hidden in plain sight near downtown ATX.

We visited recently and enjoyed it. Interesting history of the house and its inhabitants. Simple floor plan with some original furnishings. Some great views and a few amusing sculptures in the yard.
