Thanksgiving picnic at McKinney Falls State Park

Small waterfalls, streams, trees and interesting rock formations. There were several people fishing.

This is a nice quiet place if you want to get away from the city. The falls, especially after a nice rain, are soothing. Nice place to also take a small "romantic" walk just the two of you.

This place is gorgeous. The waterfalls, trees, and rock formations make this place a photographers dream. We also took our couple to the Hamilton house. The images you can get from this location are outstanding. We would love to come back in the summer and swim in the lagoons.

McKinney Falls state park is like a little urban oasis, even though it's surrounded by the city of Austin, you'd never know it. Onion Creek runs through the park and has two falls. It's fun to splash in the creek or to sit and listen to the falls. The creek is good for fishing and swimming as well. There are... More

If the water is low the falls are a joke. This park is not worth the stop. There are so many other things to do in Austin. I would not waste my time with this park.

The falls are so-so, being more like rapids than falls. The trails are lousy and barrely walkable, and they're unmarked.

We visited on the last weekend of October 2016. Many families and couples were visiting and playing in the water. The park is easily accessible and parking is adequate. The entry fee is $6 per adult. While many of the paths are wide and flat, not all will be easy for children or the infirm to navigate, which restricted my... More

My favorite close-in camping! Tent or cabin sites. Hiking lower falls or the more secluded upper falls. Swimming is fun if the creek is full. If the water is low, you get to hike up the creek and check out all the neat water holes and rock formations! Biking allowed on some trails.

We went there for a quick visit to the falls. They looked good, but were smaller then expected. It is a nice park though. I noticed it is possible to rent a campingsite and stay the night. Definitely recommended.

Our extended family spent an afternoon here. It was easy to get to from the City of Austin. There were lovely paths and places to raft.
