Despite the high reviews I don't see this as that special. Yet it is an intriguinhg glimpse back 100 years to a free spirited and eccentric traveler and sculptress who definitely marched to a different drummer. Interesting house. Lots of sculptures. And a certified native wildlife landscape that looks much like it did 100 years ago. Far more interesting than... More

As long as I live in this city, I am amazed this place is still standing in the same crumbling condition it was 10 years ago when I first looked inside.

Wonderful (empty) place to go. One area was not easily accessible but didn't detract from home. If you been to DC or TX Capital, you've seen the work of Elisabet Ney. Progressive sculptress who left a beautiful mark here in Austin. The grounds are kept "natural" The wildflowers in the spring are beautiful. Have lunch in Hyde Park before or... More

Not many Austin visitors come to this little museum hidden at historic Hyde Park disctrict. It took me some years to finally pull myself off 45th Street to visit the place that had been on my list for a long time. It is very a nice, cute, cozy, romantic and, and the same time, very informative, place. You learn a... More

This is a small museum/house/studio of a wonderful artist. Her works are spectacular. I came here as a kid, but it means so much more now that I know the history of the subjects of her sculptures. There's a nice park there too. A trip back in time.

I knew next to nothing about Elisabet Ney before moving to Austin. It was interesting to see the plaster casts she made before completing the works housed at numerous museums and The Texas State Capitol Building. There is a docent, and on a slow (number of visitors) you get a personal tour of the downstairs. You get a tour anyway,... More

Having lived in Austin for a couple years now, my fiancee and I found ourselves with an hour to spare in town, and finally checked out this museum. It was a really delightful surprise to learn about how Elizabet Ney, a Bavarian sculptress who, along with her husband, abruptly left the court of Mad Ludwig in Bavaria to start all... More

Lots of material available on this place, the home and studio of a famous sculptor. Tucked away in a neighborhood of nice, old homes. Amazing historical statues and photos of old-time Austin. You might want to do some reading about Ms. Ney before you visit - a truly unique person. We love to take visitors to Austin here. Make sure... More

I went here on a recent trip to Austin. When I was visiting the Capitol building, our guide recommended it. Elizabet Nye was an extraordinary woman well ahead of her time. The grounds do look shabby but that is because that was the way it was when Elizabet Nye lived there, The interior is lovely and has so many examples... More

A diamond in the rough, the rough being the unkempt garden. Well done narrative of Elisabet and her husband. Great collections of her sculpted busts. Quaint surroundings.
