We were told to come here for the view but the shrubs and trees have grown so that they now block a lot of the view. Since they are still encouraging visitors to make the climb and stop and see the view and they do...More

It's a beautiful 360 view! Agree with David H, it's not much of a hike. If you don't like steps, you can also go to the end of parking and walk your way up. It can be very hot on a sunny day and there's...More

While I recommend this for the views, I went into this thinking it was a "hike". It's really not. I mean, there's maybe 70 stairs to get there and that's it. I was hoping for "real" exercise, like an hour-long hike. This is not that.

Really worth a visit! Nice short hike up some steps and lovely views. There are a few trails through the woods and huge stone tables for picnics.

Labor Day weekend visit to Mount Bonnell was better than expected. I recommend wearing sneakers and light clothing if you plan to visit during the middle of the day because you will sweat. There's a small 10-15 minute hike that leads you to a great...More

Nice view of the lake. Short walk up some stairs. Nothing spectacular. Austin is pretty flat so this small hill kind of stands out. There is a nature reserve nearby with peacocks so make sure to check that out.

Mount Bonnell is beautiful at night! It's great to walk around while on a date or to simply take a nice hike. It's always better to go when it's cool outside!

My siblings and I took a trip to Austin and a friend recommended that we climb up mount Bonnell to look at the beautiful view! There is probably 50 stairs or so to walk up. Not a hard walk at all. My friend was right,...More

Yes. They have picnic tables & trash cans there in assorted areas but be prepared for a few people passing by & possibly asking for a bite of food!

If you're like most locals and are into fitness, you can rent a bike. If riding in hills is not your thing, you can use a ride-share app like rideaustin (Uber and Lyft don't work here).

Not long at all, maybe ten or fifteen minutes. It's not really a trail, just a set of steps up to the top from the parking area. It's absolutely worth doing, though, because its the best view in Austin.
