Worth seeing if you love country dancings

Went mostly just to see an old Texas dance hall. Cool place but most of the people were older. Still fun to watch.

This place is a go-to if you love country western with down home folks that love the music and dancing. Its a shrine to the good ole cowboys and cowgirls.

I had no idea places like this still existed...and the fact that they do is a great thing! From the exterior it looks like an assuming little country bar, but when you walk to the back there's a huge dance floor and stage. We had a great time dancing, drinking and visiting with friends. Wish we had a place like... More

No matter if you dance or not, this institution is a must feel and see. You can try signing-up for a class and you will even think you can dance! Live music or not, the vibe is exhuberant and all patrons are always having a good time. Cover charge is affordable and the dance lessons go fast so pay as... More

You have to love the Spoke. Real Texas music... Real Texas two steppers.... Acceptable Chicken Fried Steak. It is a bit of history, and every bit as much fun now as it was a decade or two or three ago. Absolutely worth a visit. Check out the two step lessons mid week.

Don't be fooled by the "aged" interior as this is a very fun place. There is a live band and large dance floor. Many evenings there are dance lessons - which is fun. You can dine as well. The bar is very large, and the bartenders are very friendly. A slight cover charge to enter the dance floor area. If... More

We have danced at The Broken Spoke many times. It is one of the originals - a real honkey tonk. They have fantastic country bands and you can boot scoot to your hearts delight. If you don't know how to Two Step all you have to do is scoot your feet to the music and go around the outside of... More

Great older timely dance hall surrounded by new condominiums. It is a great place to two step or get a lesson at 8PM by Terry White. She is a great teacher for all.

What can I say? Went to Austin wanting to hear some great country music with country music people and was directed to the Broken Spoke. They did not disappoint. Live duo during dinner and a live band in the dancehall all night long. Cold beer, great people. Family owned since the 60s, this place is a dream.
