Alta is for skiers and is phenomenal. Snowboards are not allowed. This has been a family owned resort since 1938. It is at the end of Little Cottonwood Canyon and receives an average of 550 inches of snow per year. The water content of the snow is very low, becoming aome of that world-famous Utah powder. Often, you can't make... More

Alta is a skiers' mountain. The terrain is awesome. There are no boarders. (Sorry.) Therefore, the trails become skier cut, which is different from boarder cut. Makes the day much easier and the terrain more predictable. I would add, the best, most challenging and rewarding areas, such as Katherine's, is open only to advance skiers. Alta is a place to... My favorite ski place, year-in, year-out. Alta has the best probability of good-to-great early-season snow, so I generally book while there are still leaves on the trees and go the week before the colleges break for Christmas. Also, as they advertise, "Alta is for Skiers." This is THE skier's place - simple, basic lifts (most without such luxuries as footrests... More

This place usually has the lightest powder snow in the USA and lots of it. Sometimes in the winter you will have to shelter in place while avalanches are dealt with.

We visited in the last week of September. Fresh snow was there. And Fall colors. What a sight to behold. No doubt this is paradise for skiing lovers.

I have had a season pass at Alta for a number of years, and it is a great mountain. There are many areas to satisfy both the novice and advanced skier, and there is all kinds of terrain. The light tends to get flat, there are not many mogul runs, and some of the really good runs require some mountain... More

If there is any snow this place is world class and it keeps its snow 8,000ft and mostly north facing.

Alta is the greatest ski resort in Utah. Alta has a vast amount and variety of terrain to suit every level skier. It is one of the few resorts that prohibits snowboarding so the conditions and snow surface are superior to other resorts. It has groomed and natural trails and very long runs. This historic resort is a treasure.

Great little mountain, our kids loved it. Really good value to grab a ski guide for the first afternoon to show you some sneaky trails off the big traverse. Kids ski school also really good value. On mountain food was awesome. We skied through the gate into the back bowls of Snowbird a couple times, just $20,highly recommend skiing there... More
