We enjoyed that this place was peaceful in comparison to the hopping joints nearby. It has a very old-fashioned vibe, complete with wait staff in period garb. The food was tasty and plentiful, the room was lovely, and we enjoyed the experience.

This eclectic place is something else. The servers dress in period costume to include the way they talk. You would think you walked into the 1700s. Full menu and you can even get an Ale if you wish. The server even gives history lessons, at least ours did.

The tour guide made the tavern come alive with tales of the local folklore at the time. So interesting. There are stairs and not sure if it's suited for people with mobility issues. Double check ahead of time. Tiny gift shop. Worth the visit.

Very cool decor. Historic property. Good location. Easy to find. Reservations were not needed but we had them. The food was pretty good.

Restored 18th century building; food adequate though there are better options; service efficient and polite.

We learned how taverns were back in the 1700's and I'm sure glad they've changed. There's a lot of history here at Gadsby's Tavern so I would recommend taking the short tour. The guides were very passionate about the history of this tavern and were excited to share all they knew. From the famous people that have visited to how... More

the food on the tables was recreated by the cooks [shefs, whatever] at the tavern FROM the original recipe, so they would know what it's supposed to look like, so then they had it created or they, themselves, created it from fake stuff. So it looks age appropriate. [lol the terms we use in different centuries]. Original flooring, stairs are... More

This is a staple in Old Town. The food is Colonial and quite heavy but so worth the experience. Ghost tours line up here, the Lafayette Ball is held here, George Washington ate here regularly- what's not to love?

Step back to George Washington's days as you enter the tavern for you midday fare. Food is reasonably priced, tasty and authentically served by waitstaff in costume. After your meal, take a tour of the building - not lengthy , but definitely worth the time!

Learned a little bit about previous history. The women who took us on the tour did a nice job. There are some steep stairs so be careful. There is a charge for the tour. Currently they charge 5 bucks per person or 4 bucks if you are a AAA member. Tour is about 20-25 minutes

Thank sphunt
