This place is beautiful, full of history, and will take you at least an hour to soak in. There are many guides that you can hire at the trailhead or you can take in the place on your own.

El Fuerte is an archeological site nearby Samaipata, in the old route from Santa Cruz to Cochabamba. This prehispanic site consists in a sculpted rock in the top of a mountain. It is believed it was a militar and religious center, with cultures like Inca...More

Visit the museo in Samaipata first for some advance understanding. I took a mototaxi one way (20B) and walked the 10km back along the road (a walking trail straight up and down is unfortunately not available). At the site you are strictly restricted by paths...More

The ruïns are pretty nice but the view is the great winner of this site. You walk around and are amazed at every turn. I would recommend to drive up and walk back to samaipata (2hrs). Take a swim at the river halfway!

Great place to visit, very special. The walk takes approx. 1 hour at slow pace, enjoy the views, they are quite stunning. Take a guide with you so they can tell you about the history behind the ruins, it's pretty interesting.

If you are going to Samaipata you have to go there!! it's an incredible place in the mountains! Just be patient and pay attention to the route cause it's very high! and there are many cars on the way! haha :)

Ample grounds for kids to play and see nature, while experiencing a new culture and ruins. It does require a hike but it is not strenuous (we did it with a 3yr old, and 60yr old in the group)

This place is a mystery. Few people are not somehow touched by it. I have been several times and never fail to feel how special it is. Carved by ancient people - and one wonders how, in the midst of forests and mountains, they found...More
