My wife and I spent a very enjoyable couple of hours visiting this brilliantly refurbished nineteenth century theatre. From our interpretation of this great building, nothing has been overlooked and no expense spared in turning this monument to classical opera and theatre into a very desirable venue for a wonderful evenings entertainment. We were only in Manaus for two days... More

What a sensational building with such a historic past. Visited while on a cruise stopping at Manaus and was, for me, the highlight of the trip. The building has been beautifully restored in 1996 and displays all the elegance as when it opened in 1896. Make sure you go inside and visit the auditorium, it will surprise and amaze you.... More

The theatre was a bit of a mission to get to from the Port but it is nice. Beware that the streets aren't overwhelmingly beautiful and most buildings aren't a sight to see. But if you have a passion for exploring regardless this is worth trekking for.

This is the main attraction in this bustling and sweaty city. It sits on a raised position in the city centre. It is built along classical European opera house lines, with opulent fixtures and fittings, all built from materials imported from Europe at the height of the local rubber boom. Tours of the building run regularly and it is well... More

A place worth seeing! Walk in the main floor to see tapestry behind stage, then go upstairs to view from one of the box seats. On the second floor be sure to see the Legolas model of the opera house with 30,000 logos. See the statue in the plaza in front.

Superb experience, privilege to be in such a historic building & enjoy performance. Our visit to Manaus was short but memorable. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the history & culture that has been preserved and how it is a significant achievement for a city in such a remote place. Thank you

The amazon theatre (opera house) is an impressive building, the inside is fantastic when you consider that the materials were brought from Europe. It does not take too long to see it all but is a must if visiting Manaus.

Very well preserved. You get a nice taste of colonial upper class Manaus entertainment. Boxes open for a visit. Some interesting stuff in the gift shop. In the heart of the old city.
