Porto da Barra is one of the few points of land in Brazil that face west over the Atlantic Ocean (due to its unique geography near the entrance to the Bay of All Saints). Because of this, Porto da Barra Sundown Show features sunsets which are both spectacularly beautiful and endearing because of the way people (visitors and local residents alike) applaud, cheer, whistle and sing while the sun sets over the sea. Porto da Barra Sundown Show also features various styles of live music at world-famous Hot Dougie's Rendezvous on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The water at Porto da Barra Beach is quite calm and perfect for swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, ad and other water sports. Even on days when other beaches in Salvador are empty, there is typically a good crowd at Porto da Barra Beach. Porto da Barra also features Portuguese forts (recently renovated as multimedia museums) dating back to the 17th century and number of good restaurants, bars, shops including used book and record stores, and a State of Bahia agency which promotes the production and sale of quality hand-made artisan products, and others.

I have a love/hate relationship with Porto da Barra. Some of my happiest moments have occurred in Porto: swimming in the calm, warm waters, spending the day on Barra beach drinking caipirinhas and watching the the gorgeous sunset, sitting in an outdoor cafe and laughing my head off with my friends, and watching and participating in the daily drama that... Really Calm Waters, Perfect for Swimming!! I really enjoyed this beach for an early morning swim or float!! Its defiantly the best beach for relaxing, well protected from waves making it the locals favorite!! Also check out the Paddleboard shop near here for the best Acai in Salvador.

This beach is the main public space of Salvador and where you will see different social groups and ages together. Nothing about this beach is peaceful or calm, but that is not the point. This is great people watching as well as a great swim on a sandy beach with calm, protected waters. Don't bring any valuables and don't carry... More

The whole area of Barra is a good place to stroll across the port, the beaches and the different forts than fringes the area. A great place as well to savour local culture

It is a nice place to visit . The sea water is cristalline turquoise and the nature is beautiful. The beach of Barra is one pf the most beautiful there is. The downside is that the place is always overcrowded at every hour, it makes it difficult to enjoy the beuty of the place. A must see anyway.

When I walk along the beach sidewalk I pass by this beach. It has a beautiful sunset. It is always very crowded. It is safe in the water. Don't bring any valuables because there is some unsavory characters. It is in the heart of Nbarra tourist hotels and restaurants.

Thank Ron M
