This small church tells a lot about the story of the city during the 40s. The paintings inside and outside were shocking at the time, outside because the fish are on top and the birds under Jesus. Inside because Saint Francis is represented with a...More

This Oscar Niemeyer designed church is a bit outside Belo Horizonte, but is an easy bus ride to reach. Take the 5106 from any of the stops at the North End of Avenue Alfonso Pena (there's one very close to the Sao Jose Church) for...More

It sits on the Pampulha lake and be sure you go with a guide since it is locked up much of the time. Well worth a visit.

This church was the first famous work of Oscar Niemeyer. The wall painting by Candido Portinari is my favorite feature. The church is small, but full of art and history.

Super interesting architecture, really cool artwork on the side, and a great location. Definitely deserves the hype for its appearance. I'm 100% not a fan of religion, but I like the look of this church.

The church is super small, but is beautiful. I live near it and see it frequently, but I am still amazed by the murals made by Portinari.

A church unlike others, designed by Oscar Niemeyer, with mural tyles painted by Portinari. It is set on the shore of Pampulha lake, which holds a beautiful architectural emsemble.

I think this church is a master piece from Oscar Niemeyer, simply beautiful. It's just sad it's not maintained, it's so bad that masses can't happen anymore.
