We attended mass here and loved the priest, the friendly congregation, and the lively music. Even if you don't speak Portuguese, you will be impressed by the great spirit and faith-filled worship of both young and old. We really enjoyed the service.

This church is not open to the public for viewing outside of mass times and when mass times are is anyone's guess. It's a very imposing building, but it's also very dilapidated, with graffiti scrawled all over the outside walls. What it's like inside, I'll...More

Maybe you'll be lucky to get a sunday morning mess, full of locals and that would be a great chance to admire the interiors. Walk down to Rua São José. Pass by the smaller church of São José.
