Pleasantly happened upon this visitors center as we were driving around Ashland on a college tour. AMAZING place. Great indoor displays, great outdoor displays, great trails. Wish it were closer to us!

On our way to Bayfield, we decided to stop and stretch our legs and we are glad we did! The visitor center has a very easy to navigate layout with helpful staff to guide if needed. Take the time to climb up the stairs to the top lookout area. We then walked the path through the marsh & woods, it's... More

I went here while in Ashland with three children 9,6,2. It is a small cute center. The best part was the look out floor on top with a couple sets of binoculars for the kids to look at. I probably wouldn't bring them back as it is pretty limited to keep their interest. I was surprised that it was so... More

This place only showed up on our journey as we were LEAVING the area...only wish we had stopped in here FIRST as we were ARRIVING! This place is extremely well put together...beautiful displays.... and gives a comprehensive overview of the whole region. It is cooperatively run by several regional and municipal governmental and tourist agencies and with the National Park... More

Staff was very friendly and accommodating when we arrived just before closing. Be sure to allow enough time to fully enjoy what the center has to offer. There are all sorts of displays that will educate you about Wisconsin's wonderful natural habitats.

We have driven by here a few times but I never noticed it until I looked on Trip Advisor's Things to Do recommendations. We turned a day out of school into an educational experience. My son is fascinated by Lake Superior and I was glad to see so much about the history of the people in the area. Native Americans,... More

This dramatic and well designed tower building houses a wealth of local information about the Great Lake Superior, and the water shed that supports it. Directly across the parking lot, and the adjacent county road, is a well designed, and expertly maintained, handicapped accessible walking trail through the terrain that Aldo Leopold helped save from total destruction. There is a... More

I hadn't expected much from this place intending only to stop off to buy a park pass (they don't sell the National Parks Annual Pass) Instead we found a considerable amount of interesting information which held us there for more than an hour. The rangers are extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed my visit -... More

We like museums and enjoyed this one. The elevator ride to top floor observation deck was much better than stairs. Staff was friendly and helpful. Good place to pause from driving. Very clean restrooms!
