Fun leisurely walk around Ashland historic downtown amid cute shops, yummy ice cream and chocolates, friendly people to see beautiful detailed artwork on sides of buildings displaying some of the history of Ashland and the Lake and Northwoods area. We will go back and allow more time to enjoy many more of the details in each mural. Fascinating! Inspiring! for... More

Most stunning detailed murals we have ever seen, some nearly a block long and many historic buildings. A few cute shops and a brewery. Ashland has several really nice lakeside parks too on Lake Superior, the largest freshwater lake in the world.

This is a great walking tour, and also can be driven and you can park your vehicle and take a close up look at the mural. Stop of the visitor's center as you enter Ashland and pick up the brochure before entering the city. The brochure contains a map of the city and the location of all 17 murals. There... More

We spent a part of our afternoon, exploring the town, (I guess this is the point of the Murals) The quality of the work is amazing and it's really educational and fun to learn about the old days. Highly recommend

The 1.5 hour drive from Duluth is worth every mile to experience the gift of love these artists have given Ashland. I wished I'd gone on the day of the guided tours (I think it was on the weekends) just so I could have focused on the beauty instead of having to locate them, but I will never forget having... More

We were recommended to visit these murals in town by a lady at the Visitors Center at the west end of town. We parked near the Police station & walked in both directions to see most of the murals & then took the boardwalk along the waterfront.

We were not aware when driving to Ashland that there was a mural walk - what a unique way to tell the history of the city, county, and area. Truly loved how much the people of the area were part of the murals in the form of sponsorships.

The murals in Ashland are best seen on foot. Stop in at the tourist center or one of the local hotels to pick up the mural flyer. It includes a map and a short background about each mural. We did our walk on a Sunday morning. This was a great time because there was basically no traffic so you could... More
