About
Largest hydroelectric power plant in the world, Itaipu is the current world record holder in power generation and is considered one of the 7 wonders of modern engineering. Built on the Parana River, the seventh largest river in the world, between Brazil and Paraguay, it is 8 km wide, has a maximum height of 196 m and a lake of 1350 km². Itaipu enchants not only for the dimensions and technical aspects, but also for being a vanguard in sustainability and tourism, with several options of visits, from the classic Panoramic Tour and the award-winning Special Tour, that leads to the interior of the plant, to boat trips on the lake and night tours of the plant. Visiting Itaipu is to know, closely, what human capacity can accomplish.

    Wonder of the world
We had to limit our visit to the bus tour because our young daughter is below 14. Anyway, the visit is astonishing and the dam is a real technical wonder of the world. Impressive from every point of view. We were included in a group created by a tourism broker and maybe we had some slightly reduced technical explanation by the guide himself, but videos are shown in the sightseeing points and on the bus as well. Absolutely a must see once you are in Foz do Iguazu and decide to visit the falls, so that you can see a natural wonder and a human technology wonder

    Cool experience!
I thought this was the coolest tour of a dam! The bus ride over and below the dam from Brazil to Paraguay with history and guidance was awesome! The viewpoints were good! If you are looking for a place for a half day away from the falls, check out this dam!

    Highly recommend
We are so glad that we booked the special tour. What an experience! Milton led our small group of English speaking travellers through the inside of the dam with enthusiasm and a wealth of knowledge! Thank you Milton! The whole process was very efficient, from security to hard hat, hair net and water pouch distribution.

The place is massive. The mannerisms of these security guards to belittle you is deplorable. The beauty of the place is unexplainable.

Foz is one of the most beautiful places I've been to in Brazil.
The city is clean, wooded, safe, and quiet.
You'll definitely take great photos there.

This place is just huge.
We did the tour anf had a chance to see the dam from different directions. Our guide was also very friendly and helpful.
The tour itself was very interesting.

Our amazing guide, Diana told us the spillway was open and recommended us going to visit the dam. We probably would not have gone if she hadn't;t mentioned it. We took the bus there and really enjoyed our tour.

We spent a lovely morning on a bus tour here. We even got a stamp in our passport! This dam is actually in Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina. This place is huge! It is also very interesting and worth a visit.
