A really beautiful beach! The surf was too strong for me but many people enjoyed it. There is a close-by hiking trail called Costão that is definitely worth the trip (1 hour round trip).

Best oceanic beach near Río de Janeiro! A beautiful place, with two big rocks in each extreme, ideal also for surfing...

Beautiful beach , but a Long drive. The drive was totally Worth it. It takes a while to get there from Rio, so you should get up early so you can spend the day.

I grew up going to Itacoatiara Beach and it is def one of my favorites on the Oceanic Region of Niteroi. The prainha, right side of the beach is perfect for families and kids as the left side is Rad for the surfers and surfers lovers (like me!!!). Get an Acai bowl, or a queijo coalho and is in love... I love the scenic view of the beach and rock formations. There is a certain place where it is safe to swim because it is surrounded by big rock formations that covers it and hinder the big waves to come in...

Like an hour by bus #38 from Niterói. In the end of the beach there are more calm water. Climbing the Big stone montain, you could see an amazing view, for take good pictures, but taking care cause waves are strong, already people died.

The beach and mountains are simply stunning. We walked to the top of mountain and the view was stunning. If you do the walk( climb) make sure you wear good shoes and take water. Long steep climb but worth it. The beach is clean but the surf is strong so be careful.
