Join renowned Brazilian chef Yara Castro Roberts and retired...

Join renowned Brazilian chef Yara Castro Roberts and retired French/American executive Richard Roberts to prepare and enjoy together a refined Brazilian dinner with the best of Brazilian cuisine. The menus are from six regional and historical cuisines such as Minas Gerais, Bahia, Amazonas, Cerrado. These are also the subject of our new book “The Brazilian Table” that have been nominated and a finalist at International book awards. The evening begins at 8:00 PM sharp and end about 11:30. We start by serving a caipirinha and Richard Roberts shows a unique way to make it. Next, guests are invited to gather around the stove to join or just watch the preparation of the dishes. Then we all sit at our decorated table and enjoy the four-course dinner we made together, with wine from Argentina or Chile. We end with coffee or mint tea and a tasting of aged cachaça.

You go to this "cooking school" in the home of Yara and Richard. It is in their home. The first hour and a half is spent by them teaching the "food culture" and history of the country. Just fascinating. Then Yara teaches you how to prepare and cook a five-course meal...with each dish being from a different time of the... More

A friendly welcome upon arrival and non-stop interesting conversation with Brazil at it's heart. What more could you ask for? Oh yes it's a cooking class so you'll be happy to know that you'll be educated in the food and drink that you help prepare and consume - the guiding hand of Yara is both expert and encouraging (ideal in... What a wonderful conclusion to our holiday in Brazil. Spending the evening with Richard and Yara has been a highlight. Wonderful and warm hosts who go out of their way to make you feel welcome in their beautiful home. After helping prepare the meal under Yara's guidance we sat down to eat one of the best meals we have eaten... More

We did the dinner demonstration and had a lovely time. Yara and Richard were wonderful hosts, very friendly, interesting and knowledgeable. The food was delicious and we learnt lots of tips we will take home. We also learnt lots of interesting tidbits about Brazil and had good dinner conversation. We would definitely come back.

My boyfriend and I recently visited Paraty for 2 days. We signed up to have cooking lesson/dinner with Yara and Richard. Yara and Richard are both so lovely and delightful. There were 2 other couples with us, one from New Zealand and one from the US. We all took part cooking after Yara's explanation and demonstration. While dinner was cooking,... More

This was our favorite activity and favorite meal in Paraty. Yara and Richard are a wonderful duo and have thought of everything. For those concerned about the price, don't worry! You get your money's worth and more. After a lesson in caipirinhas with Richard, we all helped prepare and then eat food from Yara's home state of Minas Gerais, which... More

This was seriously one of the best holiday experiences i have ever had. Sounds cheesy and fake but it's true!I thought perhaps the write up in Rough Guide would mean i went and was disappointed but it really just felt like having a lovely dinner with friends. I learnt so much about Brazilian food and culture and loved the chance... More

We found out about Yara and Richard through Lonely planet, and will never regret spending an evening in their company. They gave us a warm welcome, opened their home and shared their knowledge about food, cooking and Brazilian history and culture throughout the evening. They speak several languages, and appears to be experts in good conversation. We learned how to... More

Slightly last minute in our part, we were sorted out by Richard and Tara despite not confirming in time! Dinner began with caipirinhas and some insight into the spirits and then progressed to us helping to make a delicious meal with a fusion of cooking from around Brazil. Really good and the kids with the family we were with were... More

Three of us had the pleasure of dining with Yara and Richard during our stay in Paraty. Their home/cooking school was located just around the corner from our rented home in the old historic center, which made it very convenient. Richard began with a caipirinha-making lesson. I learned that Yara prefers hers without the sugar, and I later tried it... More
