Been to Barra Shopping and was pleasantly surprised by the variety of stores available and the size of the shopping centre. Prices are mall like so expect to pay premium for brands

This place is an excellent alternative to go shopping in Rio, specially if you are in barra. It is worth the visit. Though it is expensive to buy in Brazil you will find interesting local stores where you can find something different than the world best know brands in clothing for example.

disclaimer: I live in Manhattan, huge malls like this are fun experiences. If you live near a huge mall (i.e. mall of America or Roosevelt Field) it may not be as interesting. Largest mall in LatAm, complete with a New York City wing including: a Statue of Liberty replica, Pizza Hut (the old school sit down restaurant kind from childhood)... More

Barra Shopping is obviously the best place to shop in Rio. They have such a variety of stores that it's impossible not to find a style that suits you. There is a food court below, which is not that impressive. Unfortunately, you will find the typical fast food options, but at least there are some sit down restaurants. This mall... More

We visited Barra Shopping Center in November 2016. It is a large shopping Mall, has Brasilian and International Brands. This was great for us as we were able to buy Brasilian-made goods. The sales personnel are very polite and helpful, and most were able to communicate well in English. Recommend this shopping center even if you are on a short... More

It is a shopping center. And it is very big. But also very unpersonal and very loud. Many restaurants.

Here you can find a little bit of everything, from Coffee Shops to nice restaurants, along with electronic, shoes and clothes stores. Is a good place to go have an ice cream with your kids, or just go have a meal according to your need, either on the food court or in a regular restaurant. Since this mall is near... More

Said to be the largest shopping center in South America, we found Barra Shopping and the adjacent New York Center with a replica of the Statue of Liberty, to be a wonderful site to dine and shop during our recent visit to the Rio Olympics. The sprawling two story mall is south of the city of Rio in the suburb... More

Nice mall, pretty large with many high end stores mixed in with regular ones. The spread of stores meant walking the mall in its entirety to get to the stores I was interested in. Nice options for food offered, loved the crepes and there's an Applebees.

It is a big shopping mall placed at Barra. You can get there by bus. or BRT. A lot of local stores. You can also buy souvenirs. But there are no good shoe shops.
