Last resting place for presidents, musicians etc. Approx 25 000 tombs and 65 000 bodies buried in beautiful tombs. Like walking in the museum of architecture from colonial time. Must see - choose not so sunny day, staff may approach and prohibit photos.

I could hardly believe what our guide was telling us: this beautiful cemetery with its amazing structures and sculptures was actually abandoned. Until recently. I have no idea why this cemetery isn't rated higher. It has some of the greatest tombstones I have seen. They have lots of famous people buried there (including Carmen Miranda) and it's absolutely beautiful. It was our favorite place in Rio. Some people say that it is not safe, but I assure you that outside the cemetery it can... More

Botafogo
In recent years, Botafogo has become one of the hottest neighbourhoods in Rio. It hosts many modern restaurants with contemporary food and many venues to listen to rock and electronic music. Its numerous bars and pubs make this area a great choice for anyone interested in a great nightlife experience - in fact, some bars in the area are open all night.
