If you like to bet the ponies this is a lot of fun. The buildings are classic and a have a feel of yesteryear. If you are not fluent in Portuguese ask for an English visitors guide which explains the bets allowed. Betting and drinks are cheap compared to the US dollar. There aren't any big video screens so you'll... More

The horse races have a universal appeal and almost any country in the world are organized races. This huge and beautiful jockey club is an interesting place to go: close to the Botanical Garden, you can watch Christ the Redeemer blessing your bets. The public is more than a mere spectator and the stakes have always been linked to race.... More

The Jockey Club is a Beautiful setting for wonderful Brazilian food! We enjoyed a caipirinha before our meal of fejoida. The view of the track was great and the experience would have been even more terrific if we'd seen some racing, but I just enjoyed the food and time spent with friends. It was a wonderful family atmosphere.

Very huge and beautiful JC. The location itself magnificent; you can see it from the Christo. Free admissions to watch the race. Bits are as low as 2 Brazilian Ryal.

Just popped in on the off chance as was visiting locally. There's a strict dress code that they don't accept men who aren't wearing trousers into any enclosure bar the first one, in which there isn't much to do in. Women seemingly can wear whatever. Will go back when more prepared.

Has a great restaurant in the main club area, and horse races. Worth a visit if you are staying in the area or passing by. Only the two previuosly mentioned areas are open for the general public, the rest being reserved for members.

The building itself is very interesting - a place from days gone by! The intricate design is reminiscent of at least a century ago. Admission is free and if you have bet on horses before the betting is fairly easy to understand. It's inexpensive to participate starting at on $2 BRL (about 75 cents) a bet or as high as... More

We are currently on our third week of our holiday in Rio de Janeiro we have been to the track twice, on both occasions we thoroughly enjoyed it. We backed a couple of winners and found the staff very helpful and friendly even with the language barrier( we have become very good at charades 😄👏). We would recommend an evening... More

We spent part of a Monday evening here. It is a lovely old building and a very impressive racecourse. It was free admission and was fairly quiet so we managed to find our way onto a table high in the stands where you could eat and drink while watching the races. Our knowledge of racing and Portuguese is limited so... More
